Job Summary
We are seeking to hire a highly expereinced Contract Governance Manager (Projects) who will be responsible for developing and overseeing a comprehensive contract governance framework that ensures effective lifecycle management of all contracts.
The purpose of the role is to safeguard the organization’s commercial, legal, financial, and reputational interests by embedding strong governance structures, compliance controls, performance monitoring mechanisms, and dispute prevention systems across all power infrastructure contracts.
The position works under the general supervision of the HODand in close collaboration with legal, finance, engineering, procurement, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure that contracts support organizational objectives, regulatory compliance, and value-for-money outcomes.
Provides strategic leadership in developing and maintaining the organization’s contract governance framework, ensuring standardized policies, processes, and controls that align all contracts with regulatory requirements, corporate objectives, and international best practices.
Oversees governance during contract development and approval stages, ensuring contracts are properly structured, risks are appropriately allocated, and all agreements undergo thorough legal, financial, technical, and compliance reviews before execution.
Contract Administration & Compliance Management:
Leads post-award contract administration by implementing centralized systems to track obligations, performance, and compliance, and by ensuring all contract changes, claims, and amendments are managed in line with approved governance standards.
Risk Management & Dispute Prevention:
Manages contractual risk across the portfolio through structured risk registers, early warning systems, and dispute prevention mechanisms, while supporting legal processes for claims management and formal dispute resolution.
Performance Monitoring & Financial Governance:
Ensures strong performance and financial oversight of contracts by embedding KPIs, monitoring contractor compliance, governing payment and variation processes, and controlling exposure to commercial and financial risks.
Stakeholder Engagement & Capacity Building:
Serves as the central governance interface for internal and external stakeholders, providing advisory support, coordinating engagement with regulators and partners, and building institutional capacity through training and governance-focused initiatives.
Other Duties:
Perform any other duties as may be assignedin line with organizational objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Master’s Degree in law, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related discipline.
Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
Minimum of 12 years’ relevant experience in contract governance-negotiation, drafting, and management, commercial oversight in contract within the energy or power sector on complex, high-value projects.
Professional certification such as WorldCC/IACCM, NCMA, PMP, or equivalent is an added advantage.
Experience working on Local or international power projects, PPP structures, or development finance–funded programs.
Strong understanding of power sector contracts, including PPAs, EPC, and project finance agreements.
Strong knowledge of power project financing, PPAs, EPC contracts, O&M, and regulatory frameworks in the energy industry.
Expertise in contract law, dispute resolution, and risk assessment.
Demonstrated experience in regulatory compliance, audit coordination, and dispute management.
