Job Title: Accountant Trainee

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

• We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant Trainee to join our finance team.
• This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational accounting skills, gain practical experience, and grow within our organization.
• The successful candidate will assist in various accounting tasks, supporting the team in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records, ledgers, and reports.
• Support the accounts payable and receivable processes.
• Reconcile bank statements and monitor account transactions.
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements and reports.
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Help ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant regulations.
• Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation.
• Perform data entry and maintain organized financial documentation.
• Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and perform any other related duties as assigned by the Senior Accountant or Finance Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 1 -2 year(s) of relevant accounting experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
• Professional certification or ongoing studies (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is an added advantage.

Preferred Skills:

• Previous internship or exposure to accounting functions.
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Tally) is a plus.
