Job Title: Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Analyst
Location: Awe, Oyo

Job Purpose
The Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Analyst will be responsible for designing and implementing robust monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems for pastoralist-focused programmes.
The role ensures evidence-based decision-making, accountability, and continuous learning across interventions supporting livestock production, pastoralist livelihoods, resilience building, and social inclusion in pastoralist and semi-nomadic communities.
Key Responsibilities
M&E Frameworks & System Design
Design and manage M&E frameworks, logframes, results chains, and performance measurement plans for pastoralist programmes.
Develop context-appropriate indicators reflecting livestock productivity, herd health, mobility, income, resilience, and social outcomes.
Lead baseline, midline, and endline assessments tailored to pastoralist and nomadic settings.
Data Collection & Management:
Design and deploy data collection tools suitable for low-literacy, mobile, and remote pastoralist communities.
Oversee quantitative and qualitative data collection from herders, livestock markets, grazing reserves, and community institutions.
Ensure data quality, accuracy, ethical standards, and confidentiality in field data collection.
Manage databases and ensure timely data cleaning, validation, and storage.
Pastoralist Programme Monitoring:
Monitor livestock-related interventions, including animal health services, feed and fodder support, vaccination campaigns, and extension services.
Track key pastoralist indicators such as herd size, mortality rates, productivity, income diversification, market access, and food security.
Conduct regular field visits to pastoralist communities to verify data and assess programme implementation quality.
Evaluation, Analysis & Learning:
Analyze M&E data to assess effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, and impact of pastoralist interventions.
Generate insights to inform adaptive programme management in dynamic and climate-affected pastoralist environments.
Support internal reviews, impact assessments, and external evaluations.
Facilitate learning sessions, reflection meetings, and knowledge-sharing with programme teams and partners.
Reporting & Knowledge Management:
Prepare high-quality M&E reports for management, donors, and partners.
Develop dashboards, scorecards, and visual reports to communicate results clearly.
Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories from pastoralist communities.
Capacity Building & Technical Support:
Build the M&E capacity of pastoralist programme staff, community facilitators, and extension officers.
Train field teams on data collection tools, indicator tracking, and results-based management.
Promote a culture of learning, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.
Stakeholder Engagement & Compliance
Work closely with government agencies, traditional institutions, NGOs, and donors on pastoralist-related data and reporting.
Ensure compliance with donor requirements, safeguarding standards, and ethical research practices.
Support audits, reviews, and donor missions related to programme performance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field.
A Master’s degree in M&E, Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related discipline is an added advantage.
Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in M&E, with at least 2 years in pastoralist, livestock, or rural development programmes.
Strong understanding of pastoralist livelihoods, livestock systems, and rural development challenges.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, SPSS, STATA, R, etc.).
Experience with digital data collection tools (KoboToolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO, CommCare).
Strong quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills.
Excellent report writing and presentation abilities.
