The Head of Finance at the Switching company is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the company, ensuring strong financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and risk management.
This role is key to driving financial efficiency, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting business growth.
The ideal candidate should have deep experience in financial management within the payment processing, fintech, or financial services industry.
This role requires expertise in financial planning, accounting, cash flow management, and financial controls to ensure the company’s financial sustainability and profitability.
Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Planning:
Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company’s business goals.
Prepare financial forecasts, budgets, and financial models to support decision-making.
Monitor financial performance and provide strategic recommendations to optimize revenue and profitability.
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
Oversee the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and investor presentations.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting standards (IFRS, NASB, FIRS).
Coordinate with external auditors, regulators, and stakeholders to maintain financial transparency.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management:
Manage company cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for business operations.
Optimize working capital and implement efficient treasury management strategies.
Supervise banking relationships, payment settlements, and foreign exchange operations.
Revenue & Cost Optimization:
Analyze revenue streams and identify opportunities for financial growth.
Implement cost control measures to enhance financial efficiency and reduce operational expenses.
Work with business units to improve pricing strategies and financial decision-making.
Risk Management & Internal Controls:
Develop and implement internal financial controls to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.
Conduct financial risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
Ensure adherence to corporate governance, anti-money laundering (AML), and regulatory frameworks.
Investor & Stakeholder Relations:
Prepare financial presentations and reports for investors, board members, and senior executives.
Support fundraising efforts by providing financial insights to attract investors and strategic partners.
Engage with regulators and financial institutions to ensure strong financial governance.
Team Leadership & Development:
Build and lead a high-performing finance team, ensuring strong financial discipline.
Provide mentorship and training to enhance financial knowledge across the organization.
Foster a culture of financial accountability and strategic financial management.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
7+ years in finance leadership roles, with at least 5 years in payment processing, payment gateways, or financial technology.
At least 3 – 5+ years in senior finance leadership within payment processing, payment gateways or financial technology.
Expertise: Strong track record in financial planning, risk management, and regulatory compliance
Certifications (Preferred): ACCA, ICAN, CFA, or CIMA is preferred.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Financial Strategy: Strong experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
Accounting & Reporting: Deep understanding of IFRS, and financial reporting standards.
Risk Management: Expertise in financial risk assessment, internal controls, and fraud prevention.
Cash Flow Management: Strong treasury and liquidity management skills.
Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with tax laws, financial regulations, and corporate governance.
Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
Leadership: Proven ability to manage and develop finance teams.
Stakeholder Management: Strong communication and relationship management with investors, banks, and regulators.
