Job Title: Procurement Officer

Job Summary 

• The Procurement Officer will be responsible for managing the purchasing process of goods and services for the supermarket. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that products are acquired at the best possible prices while maintaining quality and compliance with company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Management:

• Identify and Evaluate Suppliers: Research and identify potential suppliers, assessing their reliability, quality, and pricing.
• Supplier Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and ensure timely deliveries.
• Performance Monitoring: Regularly evaluate supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or service.

Purchasing Process:

• Purchase Orders: Prepare and process purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Negotiation: Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure the best prices and terms for the supermarket.
• Inventory Coordination: Collaborate with inventory and store management teams to forecast purchasing needs based on sales trends and inventory levels.

Quality Assurance:

• Product Evaluation: Review product specifications and samples to ensure they meet the supermarket’s standards for quality and safety.
• Compliance: Ensure that all purchases comply with relevant regulations and company policies, including health and safety standards.

Budget Management:

• Cost Control: Monitor and manage procurement budgets, ensuring that all purchases are within allocated budgets.
• Reporting: Prepare and present procurement reports to management, highlighting cost savings, supplier performance, and inventory status.

Market Research:

• Trend Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, pricing changes, and new products to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Competitive Analysis: Analyze competitors’ pricing and product offerings to ensure the supermarket remains competitive in the market.

Key Competencies:

• Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple tasks and pay close attention to detail in purchasing and contract negotiations.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and suppliers.
• Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the capability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
