As the linchpin of Neilz Design’s project delivery, the Project Architect will be responsible for steering architectural projects from concept through completion.
This role demands a balance of creative vision, technical expertise, and operational leadership.
The Project Architect ensures that every project embodies design excellence, complies with regulatory standards, remains cost-efficient, and is delivered on time.
Beyond design, the role requires hands-on site management, coordinating artisans, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve seamless execution.
Success will be measured against clear KPIs that prioritise timeliness, design integrity, sustainability, and client satisfaction, positioning the Project Architect as a strategic driver of both creative and commercial outcomes.
Lead the development of design concepts, space planning, and detailed construction drawings.
Integrate sustainable design principles (LEED/EDGE) into every fit-out project.
Champion the use of Generative AI tools to optimize space planning and material selection during pre-design.
Project Coordination & Site Leadership:
Oversee all phases of design-build projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality execution.
Lead on-site supervision, providing real-time technical solutions to construction challenges.
Monitor progress, resolve site issues, and enforce adherence to design specifications.
Manage subcontractors and site teams to uphold a “Zero-Snag” philosophy.
Conduct weekly site inspections and produce progress reports aligned with project timelines.
Procurement & Commercial Collaboration:
Collaborate with QS and Procurement teams to specify materials aligned with design intent and lead-time requirements.
Review and approve shop drawings for custom furniture and joinery, ensuring craftsmanship standards are met.
Balance cost efficiency with design quality in procurement decisions.
Stakeholder & Client Management:
Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors.
Present design concepts and incorporate client feedback effectively.
Lead project meetings and site visits to ensure design intent is maintained.
Build strong client relationships that enhance trust and repeat business.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:
Liaise with planning authorities and regulatory bodies for permits and approvals.
Ensure compliance with ARCON, HSE, and local regulations.
Maintain documentation for inspections and certifications.
Contract Administration:
Collaborate with the Ops Architect to draft and review architectural contracts.
Ensure contractors adhere to specifications and timelines.
Manage disputes or scope variations during construction.
Innovation & Research:
Stay updated on emerging design trends, materials, and technologies.
Incorporate sustainable and wellness-driven practices into projects.
Drive innovation by piloting new tools, methods, and materials.
Leadership & Mentorship:
Guide junior architects and interns in design and technical execution.
Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Build capacity within the team to ensure long-term growth and resilience.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (mandatory).
Membership with the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA).
Registration with the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) or in progress.
Familiarity with international sustainability standards (LEED, EDGE, WELL Building) is an added advantage.
Experience:
From 4 years of professional experience in architectural design and project management.
Proven track record in design-build and fit-out projects
Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, artisans, contractors, and consultants.
Technical Proficiency:
Excellent skills in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and 3D visualization tools.
Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) workflows.
Knowledge of construction processes, material sourcing, etc.
