About the Role

• We are seeking a dedicated and experienced News Editor/Presenter/Reporter to join our team in Oyo.
• This role is responsible for curating, editing, and presenting accurate, timely, and engaging news content for broadcast.
• The successful candidate will ensure high editorial standards, deliver clear and professional on-air news presentations, and work closely with reporters and other departments to provide credible and audience-focused news coverage.
• The role reports directly to the Editor-in-Chief and plays a key part in upholding the station’s journalistic integrity and public trust.

Job Responsibilities
News Curation and Editing:

• Curate and edit news stories for broadcast, ensuring accuracy, objectivity, and compliance with journalistic standards.
• Monitor multiple news sources to curate a diverse range of stories relevant to the station's audience.
• Identify and prioritize newsworthy events, stories, and developments for coverage.
• Collaborate with reporters and journalists to refine news content for on-air presentation.

News Presentation:

• Prepare and present news segments during scheduled broadcast slots, delivering information in an engaging and professional manner.
• Conduct live interviews, report breaking news, and deliver scripted news updates on various topics of public interest with poise and clarity.
• Maintain a strong on-air presence, communicating news stories with clarity, credibility, and professionalism.
• Deliver news updates, breaking news, and feature stories during scheduled news bulletins.
• Engage listeners through a clear and articulate delivery style while maintaining a neutral and unbiased approach.

Editorial Oversight:

• Review scripts, news packages, and reports to maintain editorial quality and standards.
• Manage the news department's daily operations, including assigning stories, conducting editorial meetings, and ensuring adherence to journalistic standards.
• Develop and execute editorial strategies to deliver timely and relevant news content that aligns with the station's audience and objectives.
• Verify facts, sources, and information presented in news segments.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Collaborate with other departments, such as programming and production, for seamless integration of news content.
• Coordinate with the Program Director to align news coverage with station objectives and audience preferences.
• Build relationships with relevant contacts, agencies, and sources to access breaking news and exclusive stories.

Compliance and Ethical Standards:

• Ensure news content complies with broadcasting regulations and ethical journalistic principles.
• Uphold high standards of accuracy, fairness, and objectivity in news reporting.
• Oversee fact-checking processes and ensure sources are credible and reliable.

Engagement and Community Interaction:

• Engage with the audience through on-air interactions, social media platforms, and community events to understand their interests and preferences.
• Foster relationships with key stakeholders, sources, and the local community to enhance news coverage and audience engagement.
