We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Chinese Translator

Location: Bode Saadu, Kwara

Job Summary

• The Chinese Translator will be based at the Bode Saadu mining site and will play a critical role in enabling clear, timely, and accurate communication between Chinese-speaking partners, management, and Nigerian staff.
• The role includes translation of written materials, simultaneous and consecutive interpretation during meetings and site operations, and administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations.
• The translator will also assist in maintaining bilingual records and facilitating cultural understanding on-site.

Key Responsibilities
Translation & Interpretation:

• Translate written documents from Chinese to English and vice versa with grammatical and technical accuracy.
• Provide simultaneous and consecutive interpretation for meetings, training sessions, and site operations.
• Assist in translating business correspondence, technical documents, production reports, and training materials.

Administrative & Cultural Support:

• Draft, proofread, and maintain bilingual records and documentation.
• Provide limited cultural support to Chinese expatriates to ensure smooth integration and understanding.
• Support management and teams with language-related administrative tasks.

Communication Facilitation:

• Act as a bridge between Chinese management and Nigerian staff, ensuring effective and accurate communication.
• Facilitate clear communication during operational activities, training, and technical discussions on-site.
• Compliance & Confidentiality
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all translated and interpreted information.
• Ensure translations and communications comply with company standards and operational protocols.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• B.Sc. in Chinese Language, Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
• HSK Level 3–5 or equivalent professional certification.
• 1–3 years of professional translation or interpretation experience.
• Prior experience in mining, industrial, or technical environments is highly advantageous.
• Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience studying or working in China is an added advantage.

Work Environment:

• The role is primarily based at the Bode Saadu mining site.
• Work will take place in an industrial, site-based environment, including rugged terrain, mining operations, and production activities.
• The position may involve occasional travel to other operational sites to support translation, interpretation, and administrative duties.
• Requires close collaboration with site management, production, operations, and expatriate staff.
