The Project Manager is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex data centre projects.
This role demands extensive expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
The Project Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, external vendors, and stakeholders to deliver OADC data centre facility projects.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution:
Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in alignment with client and organisational goals.
Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
Manage the project lifecycle from initiation to handover, ensuring all milestones are met.
Preparation of change control documentation.
Administration and monitoring of contractor activities.
Team Leadership:
Lead cross-functional project teams, providing direction and motivation.
Assign responsibilities, monitor progress, and resolve issues to maintain project momentum.
Stakeholder Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, vendors, and contractors.
Communicate project status, risks, and updates clearly and effectively.
Risk Management and Problem Resolution:
Identify risks, perform qualitative and quantitative risk analyses, develop risk response plans, and monitor and control risks throughout the project lifecycle.
Proactively address challenges and ensure continuity in project delivery.
Budget and Resource Management:
Facilitate the development of project budgets and oversee cost control activities.
Identify, document, and assign project roles, responsibilities, and reporting relationships.
Coordinate procurement processes.
Obtain quotations, bids, offers or proposals as required.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure all deliverables meet established standards and client expectations.
Oversee testing, commissioning, and handover processes to ensure operational readiness.
Compliance and Standards:
Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and industry standards such as Tier ratings and ISO certifications.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and present regular progress reports, including project status, risks, and financials, to senior leadership.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation for reference and audit purposes.
Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Degree or qualification in project management, engineering (or equivalent).
PMP, Prince2, or equivalent certification.
5+ years of experience in project management, with a focus on data centre, construction, or infrastructure projects.
Demonstrated success in delivering projects within budget and on schedule.
Strong understanding of data centre design, construction, and operations.
Familiarity with power, cooling, networking, and other critical infrastructure components.
Strong leadership and organisational skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Projects, Primavera or equivalent.
