Job Summary
The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of retail outlets, ensuring efficiency, excellent customer service, profitability, and alignment with company standards.
The role involves supervising store staff, managing inventory, driving sales performance, optimizing processes, and ensuring compliance with operational policies.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with solid retail management experience and the ability to coordinate multiple functions simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management:
Oversee daily retail store operations to ensure smooth functioning.
Implement and monitor standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure stores meet operational, visual, and customer service standards.
Monitor cleanliness, layout, and merchandising across store locations.
Sales & Performance Management:
Set sales targets and develop strategies to achieve them.
Analyze sales trends, KPIs, and customer data to guide decision-making.
Provide support to store teams to maximize sales performance.
Identify opportunities for upselling, cross-selling, and promotions.
Staff Leadership & Supervision:
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate store staff and supervisors.
Develop staff schedules and manage workforce allocation.
Conduct regular staff training on customer service, product knowledge, and operational standards.
Motivate teams to meet sales and operational goals.
Inventory & Stock Control:
Oversee inventory management, stock levels, and replenishment.
Ensure accurate stock counts, loss prevention, and proper documentation.
Work with suppliers and procurement teams to manage deliveries and product flow.
Monitor product quality, damage reports, and returns.
Customer Service Oversight;
Ensure high-quality customer service across all retail touchpoints.
Resolve escalated customer complaints and issues professionally.
Monitor customer satisfaction and implement improvement strategies.
Financial & Administrative Duties:
Manage budgets, expenses, and cost-control strategies.
Oversee cash handling, POS operations, and daily reconciliations.
Prepare financial and operational reports for senior management.
Support audit processes and ensure compliance with policies.
Marketing & Merchandising Coordination:
Collaborate with marketing teams on promotions, campaigns, and visual displays.
Ensure stores implement promotional materials and seasonal displays correctly.
Analyze market trends and competitor activities to inform business strategy.
Compliance & Safety Management:
Ensure compliance with company policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
Implement safety and loss-prevention procedures.
Conduct regular inspections to identify operational risks and corrective actions.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Retail Operations, or related field.
3–5 years of experience in retail management or supervisory role.
Proven experience managing store operations and staff.
Strong understanding of retail processes, inventory systems, and sales analytics.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail management systems.
