We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Kano

Job Summary

  • The Finance Manager oversee all aspects of financial management, including financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and compliance.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic financial guidance to support the organization's growth and expansion objectives.

Role and Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Budgeting:

  • Develop and oversee the annual budget for the group, coordinating with department heads to set realistic projections and expense limits.
  • Work closely with project managers to prepare project-specific budgets, ensuring cost controls and alignment with overall group financial objectives.
  • Monitor budget performance, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions to keep the organization within financial targets.

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing insight into financial performance across business units.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decisions, focusing on profitability, cost efficiency, and financial sustainability.
  • Develop key financial metrics and KPIs to measure and monitor the performance of various business units and report these to senior management.

Cash Flow and Treasury Management:

  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure adequate liquidity for day-to-day operations and long-term investments.
  • Manage the group’s cash reserves and ensure effective treasury management by optimizing banking relationships and managing financial transactions.
  • Identify and implement strategies to enhance cash flow, including the efficient handling of receivables, payables, and investments.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and company policies across all business units.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and responding to audit findings and recommendations.

Cost Management and Optimization:

  • Implement cost control measures across departments to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenses.
  • Work with department heads to review operational costs and identify areas for cost savings without compromising on quality or performance.
  • Analyze cost structures and recommend process improvements for more efficient resource allocation across the group.

Payroll and Benefits Management:

  • Oversee payroll administration and ensure accurate, timely processing in compliance with local tax regulations and labor laws.
  • Manage employee benefits and liaise with HR to ensure that payroll and benefits align with budgetary constraints and organizational policies.

Financial Strategy and Risk Management:

  • Contribute to the development of financial strategies to support the group’s growth and expansion objectives.

Vendor and Procurement Financial Oversight:

  • Collaborate with the procurement department to negotiate vendor contracts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Review and approve major purchases and capital expenditures, ensuring alignment with budgetary allocations and financial policies.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the finance team to enhance their skills and performance, promoting a culture of continuous learning and accountability.
  • Provide training to non-financial managers on financial principles to improve budget management and financial understanding across departments.

Reporting to Stakeholders:

  • Provide financial insights to the executive team, board of directors, and investors, ensuring transparency in financial matters.
  • Prepare financial presentations for senior management meetings, focusing on performance, key challenges, and growth opportunities.
  • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including currency risks, investment risks, and operational financial risks.
  • Conduct financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic planning and investment decisions.

Quarterly KPIs
Financial Planning and Budgeting:

  • Budget Variance*: Actual expenses vs. budgeted expenses (target: <5% variance)
  • Budget Completion Rate*: Percentage of budget preparation completed on time (target: 100%)
  • Project Budget Accuracy*: Accuracy of project-specific budgets (target: >90%)

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Financial Report Timeliness*: Percentage of financial reports submitted on time (target: 100%)
  • Financial Report Accuracy*: Accuracy of financial reports (target: >95%)
  • Key Financial Metrics Development*: Number of key financial metrics developed and reported to senior management (target: 5 metrics)

Cash Flow and Treasury Management:

  • Cash Flow Forecasting Accuracy*: Accuracy of cash flow forecasts (target: >90%)
  • Cash Reserve Management*: Average cash reserve balance (target: 3 months' worth of expenses)
  • Treasury Management Efficiency*: Reduction in banking fees and charges (target: 10% reduction)

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Internal Control Effectiveness*: Number of internal control weaknesses identified and addressed (target: 0 weaknesses)
  • Compliance Rate*: Compliance rate with financial regulations and tax laws (target: 100%)
  • Audit Findings Response Rate*: Timeliness of response to audit findings (target: 100% within 30 days)

Cost Management and Optimization:

  • Cost Savings*: Actual cost savings achieved (target: 5% of total expenses)
  • Cost Structure Analysis*: Number of cost structure analyses conducted (target: 2 analyses)
  • -Process Improvement Recommendations*: Number of process improvement recommendations made (target: 3 recommendations).

Payroll and Benefits Management:

  • Payroll Accuracy: Accuracy of payroll processing (target: >95%)
  • Payroll Timeliness: Timeliness of payroll processing (target: 100% on time)
  • Benefits Administration Effectiveness: Employee satisfaction with benefits administration (target: >80% satisfaction).

Financial Strategy and Risk Management:

  • Financial Strategy Development*: Number of financial strategies developed (target: 2 strategies)
  • Risk Management Effectiveness*: Reduction in financial risks (target: 10% reduction)
  • Financial Modeling and Scenario Analysis*: Number of financial models and scenario analyses conducted (target: 2 models/analyses).

Vendor and Procurement Financial Oversight:

  • Vendor Contract Negotiation Effectiveness*: Cost savings achieved through vendor contract negotiation (target: 5% savings)
  • Procurement Compliance Rate*: Compliance rate with financial guidelines and policies (target: 100%).

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Finance Team Performance: Finance team performance rating (target: >80% satisfaction)
  • Training and Development: Number of training programs conducted for non-financial managers (target: 2 programs).

Reporting to Stakeholders:

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5-8 years of experience in Accounting/Finance with experience of working or related to Agricultural Sector, Food Supplies.
  • Good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations and legislations relating to the Agricultural/Food Industry, Import/Export Regulations.
  • B.Sc. or HND in Accounting or any finance related course, Relevant professional accounting certification/membership such as ICAN, ACA, ACCA etc.
  • Taxation, Compliance and Regulatory knowledge
  • Proficiency in Zoho Books, Microsoft Excel, and ERP finance module
  • People Skills
  • Develop and maintain effective networks with contractors and industry colleagues
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Salary
N300,000 - N500,000 monthly.
