Job Title: Senior Accountant

Location: Ilasamaja, Lagos / Order Branches

Job Summary

• The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring accuracy in accounting processes, overseeing day-to-day financial operations, and supporting strategic financial decision-making.
• The role requires strong experience in inventory accounting, cost control, and compliance within an automobile business environment.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with accounting standards.
• Maintain accurate general ledger and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
• Analyze financial data and prepare management reports to support business decisions.
• Monitor cash flow, expenses, and profitability across departments.

Inventory & Cost Accounting:

• Manage accounting for vehicle inventory, spare parts, and accessories.
• Track cost of sales, landed costs, and inventory valuation.
• Conduct regular stock reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Work closely with operations and warehouse teams to ensure accurate stock records.

Taxation & Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT).
• Prepare and file statutory returns in a timely manner.
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
• Support management in financial planning and cost-reduction initiatives.

Audit & Internal Controls:

• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Review financial procedures and recommend improvements.
• Ensure proper segregation of duties and risk management controls.

Team & Process Support:

• Supervise junior accounting staff and review their work.
• Provide training and guidance to accounting team members.
• Improve accounting systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA) required.
• Minimum of 5 – 7 years accounting experience, preferably in the automobile or FMCG sector.
• Strong knowledge of inventory and cost accounting.
• Good understanding of Nigerian tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

Salary
N500,000 - N1,000,000 / month based on experience and company size
