Concern for Women and Children Development Foundation (COWACDI) is a woman-led organization born out of passion for the well-being of Women and Children in Nigeria. It has a special interest in mitigating the suffering of vulnerable persons (mostly Women & Children) in times of crisis. Currently, the organization has focused its attention on the North East of Nigeria with special emphasis on Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states (the BAY states) due to the decade-old crises. COWACDI intervenes through a community-based approach in addressing Gender-Based Violence prevention and response programmes, child protection, peace-building programmes, and empowerment of youth and women. COWACDI operates with full respect for humanitarian law and works with concrete policies and principles of international standards such as humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence, and accountability to the affected population.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Finance / Admin Assistant
Location: Adamawa

Overall Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Finance Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing both financial and administrative functions and preparing financial reports, keeping assets records and reconciling budget and expenses the NEST360 project.
S/He will be responsible for instituting standard and general administrative and accounting procedures suitable for the implementation of the project.
Maintain detailed, accurate up-to-date budget information and general operations to inform decision-making.
S/He will ensure maximum compliance of tax laws, especially for PAYE and withholding taxes.
Monitoring financial transactions at the program office for compliance with APIN financial & administrative policies, statutory and donor regulations.
Coordinate program office budget preparation and budgetary control.
Maintain a financial system, including electronic spreadsheet and QuickBooks accounting software for management reporting to track project expenditures.
Maintain program office petty cash, cheque books, ensure proper authorization for payments; upload payments to banking platform and ensure swift processing of vendor’s payments; staff claims and advances.
Other tasks:
Review of staff advances and carried out age-long analysis of advances bi-weekly as well as following up staff with unretired cash advances.
Prepare monthly financial reports and bank reconciliation statement to compliment the financial reports.
Preparation and remittances of taxes (PAYE and WHT) schedules monthly and filing of annual returns with the tax authorities in compliance with tax regulations.
Respond to both internal and external auditors during such exercises.
Respond to all relevant tax authorities in the event of tax audit exercises.
Carryout other duties as may be assigned by the management.
Requirements
Must possess a First Degree or its equivalent in Accounting or Finance.
Must possess 2–3 years post-NYSC working experience working in NGO or a development agency.
Excellent administrative skills with the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive record-keeping ensuring meticulous attention to details.
Must be proficient in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent financial standards, rules, and regulations relating to donor requirements.
Ability to solve problems, exercising good judgment will be an asset.
Must be of good character with proven impeccable integrity.
