Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, highly competent Legal Assistant with a minimum of five (5) years post-call experience to provide high-level legal, research and administrative support in a high-responsibility professional environment.
The ideal candidate is professionally grounded, detail-oriented, discreet, and capable of working independently while exercising sound judgement.
This role requires an individual with a strong understanding of Nigerian law, excellent interpersonal skills, respect for professional boundaries, a commitment to maintaining confidentiality at the highest level, and a willingness to go above and beyond in delivering quality legal support.
Key Responsibilities
Legal & Professional Support:
Conduct in-depth legal research and prepare legal opinions, briefs, memoranda, summaries, and analytical notes on complex legal issues
Review and analyse legal documents, pleadings, and written submissions
Assist with the preparation and organisation of legal materials for review, reference, and legal analysis
Track deadlines, filings, and legal obligations to ensure timely compliance
Track legal developments and emerging jurisprudence where required
Documentation & Records Management:
Draft, review, proofread, and format legal correspondence and documents
Maintain accurate, well-organised, and confidential legal records and files
Manage document control systems to ensure easy retrieval and version accuracy
Ensure compliance with procedural requirements and timelines
Administrative & Operational Support:
Manage schedules, meetings, and professional correspondence
Liaise professionally with lawyers, court staff, institutions, and other stakeholders
Monitor deadlines, filings, and deliverables to ensure timely execution
Support workflow efficiency by anticipating needs and proactively resolving issues
Professional Conduct & Collaboration:
Exercise a high level of discretion and confidentiality at all times
Demonstrate sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and respect for professional boundaries
Communicate clearly, professionally, and tactfully with diverse stakeholders
Provide support beyond standard hours when required, within reasonable professional expectations
Required Qualifications & Experience
Called to the Nigerian Bar with a minimum of 5 years post-call experience
Strong working knowledge of Nigerian law and legal procedures
Proven experience in legal research, drafting, and document review
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
