Job Title: Civil - Design Engineer

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Requirements

• We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer (Cicil) to plan, design, and supervise construction projects from conception to completion.
• The ideal candidate will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations

Education & Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (Master’s degree is an advantage).
• Professional certification or registration with a recognized engineering body (e.g., COREN or equivalent) is preferred.
• Valid professional license where applicable.

Experience:

• 3–7years of relevant experience in civil engineering design.
• Proven experience in the design of roads, buildings, drainage systems, bridges, or other infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with consulting firms, construction companies, or government projects is an added advantage.

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, codes, and standards.
• Proficiency in design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ETABS, SAFE, STAAD Pro, or similar tools.
• Ability to prepare engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
• Familiarity with structural analysis, geotechnical design, and construction materials.
• Understanding of project lifecycle, from concept design to construction supervision.

Project & Analytical Skills:

• Ability to analyse design requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Experience in cost estimation, design optimization, and value engineering.
• Ability to review and approve design documents and contractor submissions.

Communication & Teamwork:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with architects, contractors, surveyors, and other engineers.
• Strong presentation skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compliance & Safety:

• Knowledge of local and international engineering standards, building codes, and regulations.
• Commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
