Job Summary
Our Client is currently in need of a Fund/Portfolio Manager. The Fund/Portfolio Manager will be responsible for managing investment portfolios, optimizing asset allocation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and investment guidelines.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), this role requires a deep understanding of fixed-income securities, money market instruments, and portfolio risk management, with a focus on maximizing returns while maintaining liquidity and capital preservation.
Develop and execute investment strategies for assigned funds (e.g., Money Market Mutual Funds, Fixed Income Funds, Equity Funds).
Conduct fundamental and macroeconomic analysis to guide asset allocation decisions.
Monitor and adjust portfolios to align with investment objectives, risk tolerance, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a diversified portfolio of Treasury Bills, Commercial Papers, Bank Placements, and other short-term instruments.
Ensure compliance with Weighted Average Maturity (WAM) limits and issuer exposure caps.
Risk Management & Compliance:
Implement risk control measures to mitigate credit, liquidity, and interest rate risks.
Monitor portfolio performance vs. benchmarks (e.g., Treasury Bill rates, peer funds).
Ensure adherence to SEC Nigeria, CBN, and internal compliance policies.
Prepare risk reports for the COO and Investment Committee.
Performance Reporting & Investor Relations:
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports for stakeholders.
Present fund performance updates to the COO, Board, and clients.
Respond to investor inquiries regarding fund strategy and performance.
Market Research & Strategy Development:
Track monetary policy changes, interest rate trends, and macroeconomic indicators.
Identify new investment opportunities in Nigeria’s money and fixed-income markets.
Recommend adjustments to portfolio strategy based on market conditions.
Team Collaboration & Operational Oversight:
Work closely with the COO, Risk Management, and Compliance teams to ensure smooth fund operations.
Supervise research analysts and traders in executing investment decisions.
Liaise with custodians, registrars, and auditors for seamless fund administration.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Fund Performance vs. Benchmark (e.g., T-Bill rate).
Portfolio Yield & Risk-Adjusted Returns.
Compliance with Regulatory & Internal Investment Guidelines.
AUM Growth & Investor Retention Rate.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field.
Master’s degree or CFA/ACA/ACCA certification (strongly preferred).
Experience:
Minimum of 4–7 years in portfolio/fund management, preferably in fixed income/money markets.
Proven track record in managing mutual funds, or treasury assets.
Strong understanding of SEC Nigeria & CBN regulations for Collective Investment Schemes.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Excel, Bloomberg, and portfolio management software.
Strong financial modeling, valuation, and risk assessment skills.
Knowledge of Nigerian debt capital markets.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure.
