We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: HSE Officer

Locations: Ijebu-Mushin, Ogun and Gusau, Zamfara
Employment Type: Contract

Job Responsibilities
HSE Management System:

• Implement, monitor, and enforce the company’s Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures on all project sites.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, client HSE requirements, and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).

Site Safety Monitoring and Supervision:

• Conduct daily site inspections to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and environmental hazards.
• Ensure safe work practices are followed for all construction activities including excavation, concreting, lifting operations, scaffolding, and equipment operation.

Risk Assessment and Control:

• Carry out Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Risk Assessments, and Method Statement reviews before commencement of work.
• Recommend and enforce appropriate control measures to eliminate or minimize risks.

Toolbox Talks and Training:

• Conduct regular toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inductions for site workers, subcontractors, and visitors.
• Promote safety awareness and ensure workers understand site-specific hazards and safety rules.

Incident and Accident Management:

• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
• Prepare incident reports and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and tracked to closure.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

• Ensure adequate provision, correct use, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Enforce PPE compliance on site at all times.

Environmental Protection:

• Monitor and control environmental impacts such as waste management, dust, noise, spill prevention, and pollution control.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste and compliance with environmental regulations.

Equipment and Machinery Safety:

• Ensure all machinery, tools, lifting equipment, and vehicles are inspected, certified, and operated by competent personnel.
• Monitor safe use of heavy equipment, batching plants, cranes, and power tools.

Compliance and Audits:

• Ensure site compliance with regulatory authorities and client HSE requirements.
• Support internal and external HSE audits and implement audit findings.

Emergency Preparedness and Response:

• Develop and implement emergency response plans including fire safety, evacuation, and first aid.
• Conduct emergency drills and ensure the availability of firefighting and first-aid equipment.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate HSE records, including permits, inspection checklists, training records, and incident reports.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports for management and clients.

Coordination and Communication:

• Liaise with Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies on HSE matters.
• Advise management on HSE performance, risks, and improvement areas.

Enforcement and Disciplinary Actions:

• Stop unsafe work where there is imminent danger to life, property, or the environment.
• Recommend disciplinary actions for repeated HSE violations in line with company policy.

Continuous Improvement:

• Promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement in HSE performance across all sites.
• Recommend improvements to HSE procedures and site practices.

Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 monthly.
