The Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Calabar, Cross River State Nigeria is a government-owned mental health facility offering in-patient and out-patient services in South-South Nigeria. Established in 1903 as the first mental health facility in Nigeria, the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Calabar (FNPH Calabar) has provided high quality comprehensive psychiatric services in Cross River state and her environs for over a century. The hospital currently has over 15,000 registered patients, with new patients being added to this number daily. Our patients are drawn from Cross River, Akwa-Ibom, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo, Rivers, and Bayelsa states and the neighboring Cameroon republic. Vision statement To be the reference point in public mental health in Nigeria and the leading Mental Health facility in West & Central Africa with an emphasis on the areas service quality, training and mental health research.

Mission Statement To provide high-quality mental health services for patients, provide undergraduate and postgraduate training for doctors, nurses and other cadres of mental health professionals and conduct high-quality mental health research.

Job Title: Medical Director (CEO)

Responsibilities

• The Medical Director is the Head/Chief Executive of the Institution. He/she is accountable to the Board of Management and the Coordinating Minister of Health & Social Welfare.
• The Medical Director is charged with the responsibility of executing policies and matters affecting the day-to-day management of the affairs of the hospital.

Requirements

• Candidate must be a Medical Practitioner registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria with not less than twelve (12) years post-graduation.
• Candidate must be a fellow of either the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria or the West African Postgraduate Medical College or its equivalent registerable by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
• Candidate must have been a Consultant(in the speciality of Psychiatry duly registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for a minimum of five (5) years.
• Candidate must be medically fit (Attach Evidence).
• Candidate must be of proven good character and integrity.
• Evidence of Medical Research is an added advantage.
• dministrative qualification and experience are added advantages.
• Knowledge of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an added
• advantage.
• Attraction of funded grants by an individual candidate is an added advantage.

Salary and Allowances

• Salary and allowances will be in accordance with the Public Service Salary Structure for this category of officer.
