Intersex Nigeria (Center for Healthcare Development and Youth Empowerment) is an intersex-led and focused Non-Governmental Organization in Nigeria. We promote and advocate for the sexual reproductive health, self-determination, bodily autonomy, and overall human rights of intersex people in all diversity in Nigeria. Through community building, advocacy, evidence-based research, empowerment, educational and informational resources on intersex-related issues to the public, partners, stakeholders, and our community.
The Program Officer - Empowerment will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing programs aimed at empowering intersex individuals and communities.
This position focuses on creating sustainable impact by enhancing skills, opportunities, and access to resources for the target population. Below is a detailed overview of the responsibilities and expectations for this role:
Key Responsibilities
Program Design and Development:
Needs Assessment: Conduct assessments to identify the needs, challenges, and opportunities for the target population.
Program Design: Develop empowerment programs and initiatives tailored to address identified needs, such as skill-building workshops, advocacy training, livelihood programs for community development.
Innovative Solutions: Integrate innovative approaches and best practices into program design to maximize impact.
Implementation and Coordination:
Program Execution: Oversee day-to-day implementation of empowerment programs, ensuring alignment with goals and objectives.
Coordination: Work closely with stakeholders, including community leaders, partner organizations, and beneficiaries, to ensure smooth program delivery.
Resource Mobilization: Secure and manage resources required for program execution.
Capacity Building:
Training and Workshops: Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and seminars to equip beneficiaries with knowledge, skills, and tools.
Mentorship and Support: Provide mentorship, coaching, and guidance to beneficiaries to help them achieve their personal and professional goals.
Empowerment Frameworks: Develop frameworks and methodologies to measure and promote empowerment in the program context.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Progress Tracking: Monitor program activities to ensure they are on track and meeting intended objectives.
Impact Measurement: Develop and implement tools to evaluate program outcomes, using qualitative and quantitative data to assess impact.
Reporting: Prepare periodic reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement:
Community Engagement: Build relationships with community members and leaders to foster trust and collaboration.
Stakeholder Partnerships: Collaborate with government agencies, NGOs, private sector partners, and donors to enhance program reach and impact.
Advocacy: Advocate for policies, resources, or systems that support empowerment and address systemic barriers.
Resource Mobilization:
Funding Proposals: Contribute to grant writing and proposal development to secure funding for empowerment programs.
Donor Relations: Maintain relationships with donors and partners, ensuring compliance with funding agreements and reporting requirements.
Knowledge Management:
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of program activities, participant feedback, and lessons learned.
Research and Learning: Stay updated on trends, policies, and best practices in empowerment to inform program improvements.
Knowledge Sharing: Disseminate findings, success stories, and impact reports to stakeholders.
Risk Management:
Identify Risks: Anticipate and mitigate risks that could affect program success.
Crisis Management: Respond effectively to challenges or disruptions in program delivery.
