About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Executive with a strong background in the oil and gas sector.
The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of proven experience in business development, with knowledge of tendering processes and Ariba platforms.
This role requires strategic thinking, relationship-building capabilities, and the ability to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities in the oil and gas market.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales Strategy:
Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies focused on the oil and gas sector.
Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and potential clients in upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas operations.
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects, targeting multinational and indigenous oil and gas companies.
Collaborate with senior management to set quarterly and annual sales targets aligned with company growth objectives.
Tendering & Proposal Management:
Manage the end-to-end tendering process, from identification to submission, ensuring compliance with client requirements.
Prepare and review proposals, technical and commercial documents for accuracy, compliance, and competitiveness.
Maintain a clear understanding of tendering platforms (including Ariba) and ensure timely and successful submissions.
Track tender outcomes, analyze performance, and implement strategies to improve win rates.
Client Relationship Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, project managers, and procurement teams within target organizations.
Attend client meetings, site visits, and industry events to strengthen the company’s presence in the oil and gas sector.
Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, contract negotiations, and relationship management.
Market Research & Intelligence:
Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats.
Provide regular reports on market developments, competitor activities, and potential risks or opportunities.
Support strategic planning with insights from market intelligence.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with the operations, engineering, and finance teams to develop proposals and ensure project feasibility.
Provide inputs on pricing strategies, risk assessments, and commercial terms for tenders.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project handover from tender to execution.
Reporting & Performance Tracking:
Maintain accurate records of business development activities, leads, proposals, and client interactions.
Report weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates on sales pipeline, tender submissions, and revenue forecasts.
Analyze business development KPIs and provide actionable recommendations to senior management.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
8–10 years of business development experience in the oil and gas sector.
Demonstrable knowledge of tendering processes, preferably with Ariba experience.
Strong understanding of the oil and gas industry structure, procurement processes, and key players.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
Proven ability to develop and execute business development strategies that deliver measurable results.
Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet tight deadlines.
