We design, build and operate the lowest cost hybrid (solar and biomass) power plant and distribution network in India and Africa. To date, Husk has provided electricity to over 15,000 homes and business, reducing 95,000 tonnes of CO2. Job Title: Director - Compensation and Benefit
Location: Abuja
Job Description
Design, implement, and continuously refine compensation frameworks, pay structures, and benefits programs to attract and retain high-performing talent.
Conduct annual and ad-hoc market benchmarking using compensation surveys and analytics tools.
Manage salary reviews, incentive programs, and variable pay structures in line with business objectives.
Ensure salaries and benefits comply with the current legislation about human rights and pay equity
Keep track of prevailing pay rates and make sure we offer competitive compensation plans
Provides advice on job levelling and classification analysis, serving as a trusted resource for internal customers, specifically People/HR partners
Participate in the annual market benchmark reviews, in collaboration with external partners.
Develop and manage salary structures, pay grades, and scales that align with the company
financial goals and business objectives.
Perform regular market analysis and benchmarking to ensure that the company & compensation
packages are competitive within the industry and local job markets.
Design, implement, and oversee variable pay programs such as bonuses, sales commissions, and
long-term incentive plans.
Evaluate job positions to determine classification and salary levels based on responsibilities,
required skills, and market rates.
Manage annual compensation planning processes, including merit increases and bonus
programs.
Pull, organize, and analyze data from HRIS -- build reports and interactive documents to support
union negotiations strategy.
Lead or support special projects such as pay equity analysis, job architecture, and comp/payroll
system implementations. Oversee administration of health insurance, retirement plans, and
flexible benefits programs.
Evaluate vendors and negotiate cost-effective benefit solutions while enhancing employee
satisfaction.
Collaborate across HR, Payroll, Accounting, and Legal to ensure consistency and compliance in
compensation and benefits administration.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local
compensation and benefits laws and regulations.
Represent Payroll and Benefits functions on M&A, system conversions, policy changes, and
Total Rewards alignment/harmonization initiatives.
Prepare proposals, reports, and budgets: Work with finance and senior leadership to forecast and
manage budgets for all compensation and benefits programs. Analyze benefit utilization, cost
trends, and claim data to guide leadership decisions. Present quarterly benefits dashboards with
insights on participation, risk exposure, and ROI. Collaborate on financial forecasting and
budgeting for benefit programs
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
12+ years of progressive experience in Compensation & Benefits, HR Compliance, or Total Rewards roles.
Expert-level understanding of payroll, health, retirement, and leave program administration
Exceptional verbal/written communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Business acumen: Understanding how compensation and benefits strategies affect an organization's finances and business goals is critical.
Negotiation skills: Strong negotiation skills are needed to work with external vendors and partners.
Experience overseeing compensation and benefits in a manufacturing or multi-location setting.
Location and Travel:
This role is based in Abuja, Nigeria with regular travel to Husk Mini grid and other operational locations.

Based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications, salary can be negotiated if required.
