Job Title: Education State Facilitator

Job Summary
The engagement of the state facilitator (Kano) is to ensure that the implementation programme in hard-to-reach areas is monitored, and quality assured to deliver the expected results.
The state facilitator will work closely with the partners in the field to provide effective coordination and monitoring of the implementation of all activities under the Education and Youth Empowerment (European Union grants) work plans and contribute to the overall results of the grants.
The facilitator will ensure the effective facilitation in the implementation and coordination of equitable access to quality learning for all children in the different LGAs, track progress, document results, develop recommendations for progress, and ensure resources are utilized judiciously for intended purposes.
The facilitator will deploy knowledge and experience to create momentum at the LGA, community, and school levels in the quality and timely implementation of planned activities.
Job Details
The assignment will entail the Facilitator to effectively contribute to coordination and monitoring of the implementation of all activities under the Education and Youth Empowerment project work plan and contribute to the overall results of the Kano Field Office workplan, in partnership with state education agencies and private/public organizations.
The Facilitator shall carry out the following tasks in fulfilling the expectations of the post:
In consultation with the Education Specialist, conduct secondary and primary data collection and cross-sectoral analysis, preparing and disseminating key education response outputs/results.
Document and report the reach and impact of UNICEF interventions weekly using a pre-aggregated template.
Report any actual or potential acts of misappropriation, abuse, misuse, or deviation from implementation plans tothe supervisor.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate records/database on UNICEF education programme implementation across the three output areas in the state and ensure effective and timely information reporting as required.
Conduct quality assurance activities at LGA, Community and School levels to ensure quality of the implementation of interventions, under the guidance of the Education Specialist
Work closely with MOE, SUBEB, IQSB, and SAME EMIS officials to ensure timely completion (based on the agreed timeframe) of Annual School census data collection, processing, data cleaning, data merging, and analysis. Standard
statistics reports generation, and dissemination of gender disaggregated results.
Liaise with MOE, SUBEB and SAME officials to provide technical support to strengthen capacity of staff at LGEA level for effective coordination of different interventions including LURITS, TMIS, ASC, School Safety, GBV-in Schools, and community engagement activities.
Document lessons learned and best practices, producing monthly stories on EYE, including Human Interest Stories and Picture stories at least twice a year.
Any other duty as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Deliverables
Jointly with UNICEF Education Specialists, develop a Monthly work plan detailing how key task will be conducted each month.
Timely submission of bi-weekly activity progress reports as well as contributing to monthly and emerging reports on specific interventions
The Facilitator is to spend 40% of the time on reporting and engaging with state-level stakeholders at the state level, and 60% on the field for Monitoring
Requirements
Education:
A First Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Economics, or related fields
Must be computer literate with an excellent knowledge of data management.
Language:
Fluency in the English language and good English writing skills. Fluency in Hausa, the language of the immediate environment where the Facilitator is deployed.
Work Experience:
At least 5 years of experience and demonstrated ability in supporting capacity development work in the education or social sciences
Experience working on gender issues and extensive knowledge and skills in the education and social sectors in Nigeria, preferably in northern Nigeria
Strong analytical skills using diverse and complex quantitative and qualitative data
Experience working in a humanitarian context is an asset
Skills in using Microsoft Office suites are a must.
Experience working with UN or NGO programmes/projects is an asset.
Demonstrates, applies, and shares technical knowledge.
Good understanding of community involvement and participation
Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, to varied audiences, especially in target states.
Able to work effectively in a multicultural environment, set high standards for quality of work, and consistently achieve project goals.
