Job Title: IT Connectivity and Security Engineer

Location: Lagos

About the job

• Ensure secure, reliable, and efficient connectivity between the MVNE platform and tenant MVNOs by leading the planning, optimization, and operations of the IP/MPLS network.
• Build a robust IP backbone to support seamless data traffic flow, scalability, and reliability while managing integration interfaces, enforcing security measures, and troubleshooting connectivity challenges to maintain high service quality and compliance with industry standards

Responsibilities
Connectivity & Integration Management:

• Manage and monitor connectivity infrastructure between the MVNE platform and MVNOs to ensure secure, reliable data exchange and enforce security measures at integration points, including VPNs, secure tunnels, and API security protocols.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal teams to plan and implement upgrades or enhancements to connectivity systems.

Infrastructure Operations & Management:

• Oversee the physical and virtual infrastructure of data centers (servers, storage, networking equipment) and Manage integration processes in collaboration with Network and IT teams to configure and maintain connectivity solutions.
• Oversee the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of IP/MPLS network elements, including routers, switches, and backbone infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient integration and operation.

Cloud & Hybrid Environment Administration:

• Manage on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) while ensuring seamless connectivity and security.

Network & Cybersecurity Oversight:

• Oversee network security measures to protect against threats like DDoS attacks, unauthorized access, and data breaches, ensure compliance with policies and collaborate with the security team to conduct audits and implements corrective actions
• Perform regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and compliance audits on connectivity and integration systems.

Incident Management & Troubleshooting;

• Troubleshoot connectivity and security issues, providing prompt resolution to minimize downtime and ensure service quality.

Documentation & Compliance:

• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for connectivity architectures, security protocols, and integration procedures.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends and integration technologies, recommending improvements to enhance system reliability, security, and performance.

Requirements
General Education:

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Knowledge of edge computing, IoT, and emerging data center technologies with hands-on experience with data center power, cooling, and rack management
• Relevant certifications are often advantageous

General Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in IP/MPLS network design, planning, and operations in the Telecom industry
• Minimum 3 years of demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams and manage cross-functional and vendor relationships.
• Strong understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, VPNs, encryption, and secure integration methods and data centre management
• In-depth expertise in IP/MPLS protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, LDP, RSVP, Segment Routing), network design, traffic engineering, routing/switching technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Huawei, Nokia, etc), and QoS implementation for optimal traffic performance
• Proficiency in using monitoring tools to track connectivity performance, security posture and implement network improvements using automation, SDN, and advanced technologies, explore emerging trends to boost efficiency, security, and reliability, and contribute to strategic planning for the future of the IP/MPLS network in alignment with organisational
• Implement backup strategies (disk-based/cloud backups) for critical systems and data, ensuring redundancy and failover mechanisms are in place to prevent downtime
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
• Strong understanding of network security best practices (DDoS mitigation, firewalls, segmentation) and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., data protection, network resilience).
