Job Title: Safety / EHS Manager

Job Summary
Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards at the project site.
The role involves implementing safety policies, conducting inspections, identifying hazards, and promoting a safe working culture among employees and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and safety plans at the factory
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, and company HSE guidelines
Conduct daily site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts & conditions
Prepare and enforce Risk Assessments (RA), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Method Statements
Conduct toolbox talks, safety inductions, and training sessions for workers
Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents; prepare reports and corrective actions
Coordinate EHS documentation and safe work practices
Maintain safety records, registers, permits, and inspection checklists
Support audits, and statutory inspections
Stop unsafe work and recommend corrective measures immediately
Focus on EHS compliance as an overriding expectation. Conduct risk reviews, compliance audits and internal assessment of facility.
Lead accident/injuries investigation by evaluating and analyzing accident reports, workman's compensation claims, data for related trends to establish root cause analysis to prepare recommendations for preventions
Evaluate the risk of those hazards, and assist in the development of effective solutions to mitigate risk.
Candidates must have ability to Motivate and Empowerment of Others in the facility
Leading the EHS Framework deployment for the Factory, lead EHS and collaborate with Cross functional team. -Monitor EHS regulatory Compliance of State, Analyze potential impacts, provide practical recommendations and risk analyses
Work in partnership with EHS corporate and factory management to develop and implement EHS strategies, policies, and services to increase employee safety & reduce organization risks
Collection, analysis and reporting of EHS metrics
Determine regulatory applicability of the factory and enforce the same, manage compliance both internal and external.
Willingness to be part of the Cross functional team of operations, EHS, Process and strive for the improvement of the process safety adherence at all levels. Must provide mentoring and training for site personnel
Participate responsibly in implementing new products and processes
Training on Process safety for the factory leadership Team's
Problem solving skills with a troubleshooting mindset is key for success in this role.
Should have hands-on experience in participating in IMS 45001 audits
Implement:
Evaluation of EHS implications of factory operations
Management oversight for the site Management of Change (MOC) Process
Management oversight and conduct audits for Pre Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR)
Site PHA schedule and recommend implementation plan
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for incidents and near misses in the Site
Participate on teams responsible for implementing new products and processes
Life Safety Principles for the factory.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Safety, Industrial Safety, or Engineering
Mandatory: NEBOSH / IOSH / ADIS or equivalent safety certification
5–10 years of experience as a Safety Officer (construction / electrical / industrial projects preferred)
Knowledge of Nigerian safety laws, BOCW, Factories Act, and EHS standards
Preferred candidate should have FMCG or related background
Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of HSE practices and site safety management
Good communication and training skills
Ability to identify hazards and implement preventive measures
Documentation and reporting skills
Team coordination and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Industry Factory FCMG Experience.
