We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Local Chef (Nigerian Cuisine)

Location: Lagos

Job Description

• The Local Chef is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality Nigerian dishes in line with the restaurant’s standards.
• The role requires deep knowledge of local recipes, food safety practices, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of Nigerian/local dishes (e.g. soups, swallows, rice dishes, stews, grills)
• Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet company standards
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen at all times
• Follow standard recipes and portion control guidelines
• Assist in menu planning and improvement of local dishes
• Monitor food stock and report shortages or wastage
• Ensure proper storage of food items and ingredients
• Comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations
• Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
• Minimize food waste and control kitchen costs

Required Skills:

• Excellent knowledge of Nigerian/local cuisine
• Ability to cook consistently under pressure
• Time management and multitasking skills
• Good communication and teamwork
• Attention to detail and cleanliness
• Ability to follow instructions and kitchen SOPs.

Requirements
Education:

• Minimum of SSCE or equivalent
• Culinary training or catering certificate is an added advantage

Experience:

• Minimum of 2–5 years experience as a local chef in a restaurant, hotel, or catering service
• Proven experience cooking Nigerian/local dishes.

Other Requirements:

• Must be neat, hygienic, and well-groomed
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Physically fit to stand for long hours
• Honest, disciplined, and respectful
• Willingness to follow company rules and policies strictly
• Ablight to Write and Read.

Remuneration

• Salary: monthly (depending on experience)
• Meals during duty hours
• Other benefits as approved by management.
