We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Regional Sales Manager

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is responsible for driving sales growth, market penetration, and distribution excellence within the assigned region.
  • This role leads and motivates the regional sales team, develops trade strategies, builds strong relationships with distributors and trade partners, and ensures execution of sales and marketing plans in line with company objectives.
  • The RSM plays a critical role in achieving revenue, volume, and market share targets for the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver regional sales targets (volume, value, and market share) across all product categories.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies tailored to the region’s market dynamics.
  • Identify new business opportunities and recommend innovative approaches to increase sales.
  • Ensure achievement of sales KPIs including coverage, visibility, and in-market execution.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate Area Sales Managers, Territory Sales Officers, and Distributor Sales Representatives.
  • Monitor individual and team performance, providing regular feedback and support for improvement.
  • Build capability within the team through training, mentoring, and performance development plans.
  • Manage relationships with distributors, wholesalers, and key trade customers.
  • Monitor distributor performance and profitability, ensuring efficient stock management and credit control.
  • Negotiate trade terms, discounts, and promotions in line with company policy.
  • Ensure effective implementation of trade marketing and promotional activities.
  • Drive product availability, shelf presence, and visibility in all relevant channels.
  • Conduct regular market visits to monitor execution and competitor activity.
  • Provide regular sales reports, market insights, and competitor analysis to management.
  • Monitor ROI on trade spend and promotional activities.
  • Track sales trends, analyze performance gaps, and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (MBA is an advantage).
  • 7–10 years’ sales experience in FMCG, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial/regional role.
  • Strong distributor management and trade marketing experience.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving regional growth.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and sales reporting tools (knowledge of ERP/SAP is an added advantage).
  • MS Office; knowledge of digital marketing tools is an advantage.
