Job Title: Head of Operations
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Role Summary (The primary purposes of this role)
The Head of Operations is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership across all business units of the Group, ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective operations in Nigeria while enabling seamless coordination with cross-functional and commercial partners across Europe to facilitate exports and international trade activities.
The role oversees operational planning, process optimisation, supply chain management, regulatory compliance, performance management, and cross-border logistics execution across the Group’s diversified portfolio including agriculture, real estate, travel and tours, and mining.
Principal Responsibilities Performed by the Employee in this Position
Develop and implement the Group’s operational strategy, policies, and standards to ensure efficiency, consistency, and scalability across all subsidiaries and business units.
Provide leadership and oversight for daily operations across agriculture, real estate, travel and tours, and mining portfolios to ensure seamless execution of business activities.
Coordinate end-to-end operational processes including procurement, production, logistics, warehousing, transportation, and service delivery to optimise cost, quality, and turnaround time.
Lead export operations by working closely with European partners, freight agents, regulators, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth international trade processes and regulatory compliance.
Establish standard operating procedures, process controls, and performance metrics to drive operational excellence and minimise risk, delays, and inefficiencies.
Monitor operational KPIs and business performance indicators across all units; analyse trends and implement improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and profitability.
Drive continuous improvement and lean management practices to eliminate waste, streamline workflows, and improve service levels.
Ensure strict compliance with local and international regulations, health and safety standards, environmental requirements, and industry best practices.
Lead budgeting, cost control, and operational expenditure management to ensure optimal utilisation of resources and achievement of financial targets.
Collaborate with Finance, Commercial, HR, and Legal teams to align operational plans with broader business strategies and governance requirements.
Manage and develop operations teams by setting clear goals, assigning responsibilities, and building capabilities through coaching, training, and performance management.
Support business expansion initiatives including new site setup, project mobilisation, process integration, and operational readiness planning.
Establish risk management frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate operational, logistical, and compliance risks across all locations.
Prepare and present periodic operational reports to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.
Promote a culture of accountability, operational discipline, safety, and continuous improvement across the Group.
Educational and Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or a related field.
MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
Minimum of 10 years’ progressive operations experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
Demonstrated experience managing export or cross-border trade operations is strongly preferred.
Professional certifications such as PMP or Six Sigma are advantageous.
