Job Summary
- To support this growth, NerdzFactory is seeking an Editorial Associate to drive daily editorial execution and content quality across the platform.
- This is a hands-on, execution-focused editorial role for someone who understands the pace and discipline of digital publishing. You will be responsible for ensuring that business news, grants, tenders, and opportunities are published accurately, consistently, and on time, helping BizGrowthAfrica remain a trusted, go-to resource for Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Working closely with the Head of Communications, you will help maintain editorial standards, manage publishing rhythms, and ensure content is clear, relevant, and actionable. This role is ideal for an experienced editor or content professional who thrives in fast-moving environments, pays strong attention to detail, and understands the responsibility that comes with publishing time-sensitive information.

Job Description
- The Editorial Associate will be responsible for the day-to-day publishing and editorial operations of BizGrowthAfrica. This role is hands-on and execution-driven, ensuring that business news, tenders, procurement opportunities, grants, and newsletters are published accurately, consistently, and on time.
- The Editorial Associate will work closely with the Head of Communications to maintain editorial standards, publishing rhythm, and content quality across the platform.
- This role is ideal for someone with some experience in online publishing, editorial platforms, news websites, or opportunity listing platforms, who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
Daily Editorial & Publishing:
Newsletter & Alerts
Prepare and publish:
- Daily procurement & opportunity newsletter
- Daily or weekly business news brief
- Ensure newsletter content is clear, concise, and value-driven
- Work with Head of Comms to refine subject lines and structure
Editorial Operations & Quality Control:
- Edit headlines, summaries, and short-form content for clarity and consistency
- Maintain editorial hygiene across the platform
- Flag outdated or expired opportunities
- Ensure content aligns with BizGrowthAfrica’s tone and standards
- Track basic performance indicators (what content is gaining traction)
Collaboration & Support:
Work closely with the Head of Communications on:
- Daily priorities
- Editorial direction
- Content standards
- Coordinate with contributors, freelancers, or researchers (where applicable)
Support special features such as:
- Founder spotlights
- Hustle Diaries
- SME features
- Podcast content publishing
Required Skills
2–4 years of experience in:
- Online publishing
- News platforms
- Blogs with frequent publishing cycles
- Opportunity, grant, or tender listing platforms
- Strong editorial judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to work with high content volume and tight timelines
- Experience using CMS platforms (WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, or similar)
- Strong writing, editing, and summarisation skills
- Comfortable working independently with clear supervision
- Highly organised and deadline-driven
Nice to have:
- Experience covering African business, startups, or SMEs
- Familiarity with procurement or grant ecosystems
- Newsletter publishing experience (Mailchimp, Substack, Brevo, etc.)
- Basic SEO knowledge for headlines and summaries
- Experience working in a startup or fast-moving organisation.
