We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Senior Registrar, Gynaecology
Location: Abuja
Job Summary
The Senior Registrar, Gynaecology will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality care for patients with complex gynaecological conditions.
This position offers advanced training in surgical and clinical management, mentorship under experienced consultants, and opportunities to contribute to research and service improvement.
The role is ideal for registrars preparing for consultant-level responsibilities in a dynamic, internationally aligned healthcare environment.
Assist consultants in advanced surgical procedures, including:
Minimally invasive surgery (MIS), hysteroscopy, and laparoscopy.
LEEP, laser treatments, biopsies, and staging surgeries for gynaecological cancers.
Participate in outpatient colposcopy and oncology clinics, managing follow-up for abnormal cytology and pre-cancerous lesions.
Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care for gynaecological cancer patients.
Document clinical notes, monitor patient progress, and ensure continuity of care.
Participate in on-call duties, including emergency gynaecological oncology cases.
Multidisciplinary Teamwork:
Actively contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and tumour boards for holistic treatment planning.
Collaborate with radiologists, pathologists, medical and radiation oncologists in managing patient care.
Work within nursing and allied health teams to support patient navigation and counselling.
Training & Supervision:
Mentor and supervise junior doctors, residents, and medical students in clinical and surgical settings.
Lead structured teaching sessions, including bedside teaching and case discussions.
Engage in peer learning and reflective practice to enhance professional development.
Quality Assurance & Governance:
Participate in clinical audits, morbidity & mortality meetings, and case reviews.
Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines, SOPs, and service improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with AMCE and MDCN standards for documentation and patient care.
Research and Innovation:
Engage in clinical research, data collection, and academic publications.
Present findings at departmental meetings, conferences, and quality forums.
Attend training programmes to advance surgical skills and knowledge in gynaecological oncology.
Educational Requirements, Skills and Competences
MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution.
Memberships of National or West African colleges (or equivalent) or in advanced stages of training.
Valid registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Demonstrated experience in gynaecology, with exposure to colposcopy and cervical screening.
Strong clinical judgement, communication, and teamwork skills.
Certification in colposcopy, hysteroscopy, or laparoscopic surgery (desirable).
Exposure to gynaecological oncology protocols and case management.
