Job Description
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for implementing and overseeing day-to-day operations that drive the company’s strategy.
The COO collaborates with the CEO in setting and driving organizational vision, operations strategy, and hiring, translates strategy into actionable steps for growth, oversees company operations and employee productivity, ensures effective recruiting and retention, and ensures compliance with national and local business regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving organizational vision, strategy, and operational goals.
Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans with clear KPIs and timelines.
Monitor company performance and recommend improvements aligned with company goals.
Operational Management:
Oversee daily operations of the company and the work of executives (HR, IT, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Product, Manufacturing, Supply Chain).
Lead cross-functional teams to execute high-impact projects and initiatives.
Develop scalable systems, processes, and policies to ensure operational excellence.
Optimize internal processes to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Financial Oversight:
Partner with the CFO to develop and manage the annual budget and ensure proper allocation of resources.
Analyze financial statements and operational metrics to guide strategy.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure sustainable profitability.
People and Culture:
Foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
Promote a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Lead succession planning and talent development across the organization.
Align employee engagement and culture with the company’s mission and values.
Risk and Compliance:
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across departments and geographies.
Manage organizational risk proactively by implementing robust controls and policies.
Develop and maintain crisis management and business continuity plans.
Technology and Innovation:
Work with the CTO or equivalent to ensure technology supports business growth and operational efficiency.
Identify and integrate new technologies or systems that streamline operations.
External Relationships:
Represent the company in external partnerships, negotiations, and public engagements.
Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, vendors, and key customers.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Engineering, or related field; MBA or other relevant
Master’s degree is preferred
20–25+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations or general management
Proven experience in a COO, GM, or VP-level operational role
Experience scaling a business across geographies and/or verticals
