Job Summary
The Head of Supply Chain (OEMs Focus) will lead the strategic sourcing, procurement, and management of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts, spares, and components critical to marine vessels, fleet vehicles, equipment leasing assets, and operational support.
This senior role ensures optimal sourcing from global and local OEMs (e.g., engine manufacturers, vessel builders, vehicle brands, telematics providers), cost control, supply reliability, and alignment with business growth in high-capex, regulated sectors like energy and marine logistics.
Develop and execute OEM-focused supply chain strategy to secure high-quality, genuine parts and components from Original Equipment Manufacturers for marine engines, vessel systems, fleet vehicles, spares, and leasing assets.
Lead global/local OEM negotiations, long-term framework agreements, and preferred supplier programs to achieve competitive pricing, favorable terms, and prioritized lead times.
Drive NCDMB/local content integration in OEM sourcing while maintaining compliance with import regulations, customs, CBN forex policies, and anti-dumping rules.
Vendor & OEM Relationship Management:
Build and nurture strategic partnerships with key OEMs and authorized distributors in Nigeria/West Africa.
Manage OEM vendor performance, SLAs, warranty claims, technical support, and after-sales service to minimize downtime in marine and fleet operations.
Identify and onboard new OEM suppliers for emerging needs
Logistics, Inventory & Demand Planning for OEM Items:
Oversee inbound logistics for OEM imports (sea/air freight coordination, port clearance, customs brokerage) to ensure timely delivery to vessels, warehouses, and field sites despite Nigeria-specific challenges (port delays, security).
Optimize inventory of OEM spares and critical components across warehouses and onboard assets to balance stock levels, reduce obsolescence, and support high fleet/vessel utilization.
Lead demand forecasting for OEM parts based on marine contracts, fleet maintenance schedules, leasing portfolios, and predictive analytics.
Cost Optimization, Risk & Performance Management:
Achieve aggressive cost savings targets through OEM bulk purchasing, value engineering, alternative sourcing strategies, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis.
Mitigate supply risks (currency volatility, geopolitical disruptions, OEM allocation shortages) via diversification, buffer stocks, and contingency planning.
Establish and track KPIs (OEM on-time delivery >98%, cost reduction %, inventory turns, warranty recovery rate) and report to executive leadership.
Compliance, HSE & Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Ensure all OEM procurement complies with Nigerian regulations (NCDMB, DPR/NUPRC interfaces where relevant, tax, HSE standards, and ethical sourcing).
Lead internal/external audits and support quality assurance for OEM-supplied items.
Partner closely with Marine GM, Fleet Management, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Business Development to align OEM supply with contract delivery, asset uptime, and revenue objectives.
Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement:
Build, mentor, and lead a specialized OEM-focused supply chain team; promote innovation, digital tools (ERP, telematics integration), and process excellence.
Drive continuous improvement projects (e.g., OEM supplier scorecards, predictive maintenance integration) to enhance efficiency and service reliability.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering (Mechanical/Marine preferred), Business, or related field; Master’s degree or certifications (MCIPS, CSCP, CPSM) highly desirable.
12–18+ years in supply chain/procurement, with 7+ years in senior leadership focused on OEM sourcing in oil & gas, marine/offshore, automotive/fleet, heavy equipment, or leasing sectors.
Proven expertise in negotiating with global OEMs and managing high-value spares/components in Nigeria/West Africa.
Strong knowledge of Nigerian regulatory landscape (NCDMB local content, import procedures, forex, customs).
Proficiency in ERP systems, supply chain analytics, and digital tools; excellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder skills.
Skills:
Strategic visionary with strong operational execution.
Resilient in high-pressure, regulated environments.
Results-driven, with integrity and commitment to ethical/OEM compliance.
