Duties And Responsibilities
Purpose:
Extraction of mobile teeth in adults and deciduous teeth in children under local anesthesia. Conduct Pulpotomy, Pulpectomy and Suture removal. Taking and interpreting periapical and bitewing radiograph.
Administration of local anesthesia using dentoalveolar infiltration, inferior dental nerve block, and topical local anesthesia. Preparation of cavities and restoration of both temporary and permanent teeth.
Examination of oral tissues and diagnosis of dental caries and recognition of any other abnormalities within the oral environment. Perform gum massage procedures. Conduct cheek and jaw exercises on patients indicated for it. Perform teeth scaling and polishing procedures for all patients
Carrying out root planning, gingivectomy, desensitization of teeth and apply fissure sealant and fluoride on teeth. Taking and interpreting periapical and bitewing radiography.
Engagement:
Oral toileting and management for physically challenged, medically compromised patients and other groups of patients with special needs especially during admission.
Working with every other member of the dental, and medical team to ensure optimal patient management and satisfaction. This includes assisting the Dentist with procedures when required.
Oral health education and awareness to schools, canteens, different organizations, and the communities.
Participate in voluntary community health activities to promote, maintain, and restore health and prevent diseases.
Delivery:
Follow up on patients and appropriate referral as necessary.
Disinfect the working area and wash/sterilize instruments as recommended by the clinic’s daily check routine.
Give oral hygiene, dietary counseling to patients and postoperation instructions to patients.
Requirements
A Higher National Diploma in Dental therapy with 1-year medical internship or Bachelor of Technology in public health dental therapy.
Board registration and a valid current practicing license.
HND in Dental Therapy with minimum of 5 years experience.
Additional certifications within work related certifications.
