Job Title: National Sales Manager

Job Summary
The National Sales Manager is responsible for driving nationwide sales growth, expanding market coverage, managing regional sales teams, and ensuring effective distribution of pharmaceutical products across all territories.
The role focuses on revenue growth, channel development, distributor management, and compliance with regulatory and ethical standards in pharmaceutical sales.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution:
Develop and implement national sales strategies aligned with company revenue and growth targets.
Translate corporate objectives into regional and territory-level sales plans.
Monitor national sales performance and ensure targets are met or exceeded.
Drive product penetration, market share growth, and customer retention.
Distribution & Channel Management:
Oversee nationwide distribution through wholesalers, distributors, pharmacies, hospitals, and institutions.
Identify new distribution channels and expansion opportunities across states and zones.
Ensure optimal product availability, stock rotation, and reduced stock-outs.
Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams for effective order fulfillment.
Team Leadership & Performance Management:
Lead, coach, and supervise Regional and Area Sales Managers.
Set KPIs and performance targets for all sales personnel.
Conduct regular performance reviews, field visits, and sales meetings.
Recommend recruitment, training, promotions, and disciplinary actions when required.
Business Development & Key Accounts:
Manage key national accounts and strategic customers.
Negotiate trade terms, pricing, discounts, and promotional agreements within approved limits.
Build strong relationships with major distributors, chain pharmacies, and institutional buyers.
Identify opportunities for new product launches and portfolio expansion.
Sales Reporting & Forecasting:
Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports.
Analyze sales data, trends, and competitor activities.
Develop accurate sales forecasts to support production and inventory planning.
Ensure proper documentation of sales activities and trade agreements.
Compliance & Ethical Standards:
Ensure sales activities comply with NAFDAC regulations, company policies, and ethical marketing standards.
Prevent unethical sales practices and ensure proper documentation of discounts and incentives.
Work closely with Regulatory Affairs and Internal Control teams to ensure compliance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with Marketing on promotions, campaigns, and product launches.
Work with Finance on credit management, receivables, and collections.
Coordinate with Supply Chain and Operations to align sales forecasts with stock availability.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
National sales revenue and growth rate.
Market share expansion.
Distributor coverage and territory penetration.
Collection efficiency and receivable days.
Sales team productivity and achievement rate.
Stock availability and turnover ratio.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
MBA or relevant professional certification is an advantage.
Minimum 8–12 years’ experience in pharmaceutical sales or distribution.
At least 4–5 years in a senior sales leadership role.
Strong understanding of pharmaceutical distribution channels in Nigeria.
