Job Title: Marine Supritendent/Fleet Manager
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Roles & Responsibilities
Fleet Technical Oversight & Seaworthiness Assurance:
- Exercise direct operational control over all vessels under management, ensuring continuous compliance with statutory, class, and client-specific requirements governing seaworthiness, safety, and environmental protection.
- Supervise vessel readiness and availability to meet contractual uptime performance metrics for FISVs, PSVs, AHTSVs, and crew boats supporting offshore operations.
Maintenance Planning & Asset Integrity Management:
- Develop and implement structured maintenance and repair programs, including planned maintenance systems (PMS), dry-docking schedules, and condition-based monitoring in accordance with OEM recommendations and class standards.
- Oversee critical systems integrity — propulsion, navigation, dynamic positioning, power generation, and auxiliary systems — ensuring optimal operational reliability and reduced lifecycle costs.
Crew Competency, Certification & Compliance:
- Monitor crew training matrices and certification compliance in line with STCW, MLC, and Flag State requirements.
- Conduct onboard assessments to verify crew competency, operational discipline, and adherence to safe work procedures.
- Coordinate with the crewing department for rotation planning and continuous professional development programs.
Operational Risk & Vessel Inspection:
- Conduct pre-departure and routine vessel inspections covering structural integrity, machinery performance, and safety management system implementation.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and risk assessments, implementing corrective and preventive measures to mitigate operational hazards.
- Maintain and enforce compliance with ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, and ISPS requirements across the fleet.
Regulatory & Stakeholder Liaison:
- Serve as the technical liaison with classification societies, flag administrations, and port authorities for audits, surveys, and certification renewals.
- Coordinate with charterers, clients, and third-party inspectors to ensure operational transparency and satisfaction with service delivery standards.
Data Analytics & Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze detailed operational performance reports, including fuel consumption trends, voyage data, machinery downtime, and maintenance KPIs.
- Utilize digital fleet management tools and IoT-based monitoring platforms to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
Emergency & Contingency Response Management:
- Act as the primary operational coordinator during vessel emergencies, ensuring timely activation of response protocols and liaison with relevant authorities.
- Conduct periodic drills and evaluations to enhance crew readiness for emergency response scenarios such as oil spills, fire, grounding, and security threats.
Qualifications & Requirements
Academic & Professional Credentials:
- Advanced Degree (M.Sc., M.Eng., or equivalent) in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Offshore Operations, or a closely related discipline from a recognized maritime institution.
- Mandatory Chief Engineer Class 1 or Master Mariner Class 1 Certificate of Competency (CoC), with endorsements for dynamic positioning (DP) operations, offshore intervention vessels, and multi-vessel fleet management.
- Completion of specialized professional courses in Fleet Asset Management, Advanced DP Operations, Marine Risk Management, and Predictive Maintenance Technologies is highly advantageous.
Experience & Expertise:
- Minimum 10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in offshore fleet management, including multi-vessel operations across PSVs, AHTSVs, FSIVs, and crew transfer vessels.
- Proven track record in planning, deploying, and maintaining offshore fleets, including condition-based maintenance, dry-docking, and lifecycle asset optimization.
- Extensive knowledge of dynamic positioning systems, propulsion technologies, auxiliary machinery, and DP-class vessel operations.
- Experience coordinating with class societies, flag administrations, port authorities, and charterers, ensuring full regulatory and contractual compliance.
Technical & Operational Competencies:
- Deep understanding of marine safety management systems, statutory surveys, ISM/ISPS/MARPOL/SOLAS compliance, and offshore HSE practices.
- Proficiency in digital fleet management tools, IoT-enabled vessel monitoring platforms, and advanced PMS software for predictive maintenance and operational performance analytics.
- Strong analytical capabilities to interpret vessel performance KPIs, fuel consumption metrics, maintenance trends, and operational risk reports, translating insights into strategic fleet decisions.
Leadership & Professional Attributes:
- Exceptional ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, including technical superintendents, marine engineers, vessel masters, and crewing departments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, particularly with regulatory bodies, IOCs, EPC contractors, and offshore operators.
- Strong strategic vision, decision-making under high-pressure offshore conditions, and commitment to operational excellence and fleet reliability.
- Membership or fellowship in recognized maritime institutions or professional bodies (e.g., IMarEST, IMCA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to participate in offshore rotations, emergency drills, and vessel inspections under challenging offshore conditions.
- Ability to maintain situational awareness and operational control in dynamic, high-risk offshore environments, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and client satisfaction.
