We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Head of Account

Location: Lekki, Lagos (with regular travel to Makun, Ogun State)
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: CFO / CEO

Role Summary

• The Head of Accounts is a critical senior finance role responsible for leading the accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust internal controls, and driving process discipline across the finance team. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong manufacturing accounting experience who can enforce financial discipline while managing a complex multi-bank, multi-currency environment.

Key Challenge:

• Transform the accounting function from reactive to proactive by implementing strict process controls, ensuring real-time ERP compliance, and building a high-performing finance team capable of delivering accurate financial information on demand.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Accounting:

• Oversee inventory accounting for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods
• Manage cost accounting across production stages
• Monitor production costs, variances, and profitability per ton
• Coordinate and supervise monthly physical stock counts

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Implement and enforce strong internal controls and approval workflows
• Ensure 3-way matching for vendor payments (PO–GRN–Invoice)
• Maintain segregation of duties and audit-ready documentation
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, CAMA, and FRCN requirements

ERP & Systems (Odoo):

• Ensure 100% same-day transaction posting
• Maintain ERP data integrity and chart of accounts
• Review journal entries and conduct periodic data audits
• Train and supervise finance team on ERP best practices

Reporting & Close:

• Lead month-end close within 5 working days
• Prepare monthly management accounts and variance analysis
• Support audits and respond to audit queries
• Prepare board, lender, and executive financial reports

Leadership:

• Lead and develop the finance team
• Drive accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement

Key Performance Indicator

• Month-end close: ≤ 5 working days
• Same-day ERP posting: 100%
• Account reconciliations: 100% monthly
• High-risk control issues: Zero
• Management accounts: Zero material errors
• Stock variance: < 2%

Key Requirements
Education & Certification:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (minimum 2:1)
• ACA / ACCA / CPA – Mandatory
• MBA or Master’s degree (advantage)

Experience:

• 8–12 years accounting experience
• Minimum 5 years in manufacturing/production
• Minimum 3 years in senior accounting/finance leadership
• Strong internal controls and ERP experience (Odoo preferred)
• Audit background (Big 4 or reputable firm – advantage)
• Multi-currency and multi-entity experience

Technical Skills:

• Manufacturing cost accounting and variance analysis
• IFRS reporting
• ERP systems (Odoo, SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Advanced Excel and financial analysis

Soft Skills:

• Strong leadership and people management
• High attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Clear communication and sound judgment

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: N800,000 - N1,000,000 / Month (negotiable)
