SBC has recently entered into Home & Personal Care category with the 2SURE brand and launched its first product, a Hand & Surface Sanitizer. Job Title: Safety Officer

Assist Safety Manager in the coordination of SHE Management Systems in the plant, head office and external warehouses in line with the company’s acceptable standards, OHSAS 45001and ISO 14001 EMS
Assist Safety manager in working with HODs and administrative teams to identify occupational and environmental hazards and to introduce suitable controls in the offices and warehouses.
Follow up on agreed control measures to ensure safe work practices.
Ensure safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials across the plant, offices and external warehouses.
Assist the Safety manager in the communication of all relevant Local/organizational SHE standards to employees, contractors and visitors.
Identify and support in implementing SHE program at the plant, head office, warehouses and contractor management.
Assist the Safety manager in coordinating hazard spotting, near-misses and report of unsafe act in the work place.
Conduct periodic inspection and ensure servicing of all SHE equipment as required on site. Prepare report for the SHE manager and ensure timely closure of all identified gaps.
Conduct periodic internal audit and inspection as planned, generate relevant report for SHE manager and ensure tracking and closure of remedial actions.
Assist the Safety manager to plan and ensure that audits are carried out to establish that the site meets current legislative requirements, and its own SHE targets.
Support line management in carrying out accident / incident investigation and control and develop reports for SHE manager. Ensure implementation of action plans arising from lesson learnt from incidents.
Liaise with government agency as authorized on all issues as it relates to safety, health and environmental matters and reports to safety manager

Establishes and maintains productive relationships with team and external stakeholders
Ensures training programmes are attended by all nominated team members. Follows up on implementation of learnings
Builds and reinforces relationships with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production Planning and relevant government regulatory agencies.
Innovation:
Learns and implements best practices from outside and shares own best practices within SBC
Promotes process automation and use of technology within the business
Accountability
Ensure general good housekeeping of work areas, car parks, lawns, drains, waste segregation facilities and area. Generate relevant report for the Safety manager.
Follow-up stock level to ensure the availability, distribution and use of relevant personal protective equipment.
Keep ALL records (soft and hard copies) and ensure their accessibility by authorized persons.
Support the development of SHE policies and programs.
Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
Initiate and organize SHE training of employees and executives.
Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment).
Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and corrective action plan.
Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper.
Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (noise levels, PPE usage, use of machinery, etc.)
Requirements
Typically 3–5 yearsof hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience specifically within theFood & BeverageorBottlingindustry is a major advantage.
Regulatory Compliance: Deep understanding of Nigerian environmental and safety regulators, includingNESREA(Federal),LASEPA(Lagos-specific), and theFederal Fire Service.
FMCG Hazards: Practical knowledge of Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) within a manufacturing context.
