Job Title: Compliance Officer
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Purpose
The Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that the company operates in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidelines, and internal policies governing the fintech and financial services industry.
The role safeguards the organization against regulatory risk, financial crime exposure, and reputational damage while promoting a strong compliance culture across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and interpret laws, regulations, and guidelines from regulators (e.g., Central Bank, SEC, NDPC, AML/CFT authorities).
Provide compliance advisory to business units on new products, services, partnerships, and operational changes.
Ensure company policies align with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
Act as liaison with regulators and coordinate regulatory inspections, audits, and requests.
Implement and monitor Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Terrorism Financing (CFT), and Know Your Customer (KYC) programs.
Ensure effective Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes.
Oversee transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and suspicious activity reporting.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports (STR/SAR, CTR, compliance returns).
Investigate compliance breaches and suspicious transactions.
Develop, review, and update compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Maintain the Compliance Manual and Code of Conduct.
Conduct periodic compliance risk assessments.
Support enterprise risk management and internal control framework.
Coordinate regulatory filings and statutory compliance reporting.
Prepare compliance reports for management and board committees.
Manage internal and external compliance audits and regulatory examinations.
Track remediation of audit and regulatory findings.
Design and implement compliance monitoring programs.
Conduct periodic compliance reviews across departments.
Identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Track compliance KPIs and risk indicators.
Develop and deliver compliance and AML training for employees.
Promote awareness of regulatory obligations and ethical conduct.
Provide guidance on conflicts of interest, data protection, and ethics.
Ensure compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., NDPR/GDPR where applicable).
Support privacy governance and data breach reporting processes.
Ensure fair treatment of customers and complaint resolution compliance.
Timeliness and accuracy of regulatory filings and reports
Number of compliance breaches and remediation turnaround time
Effectiveness of AML monitoring and reporting
Audit and regulatory inspection outcomes
Employee compliance training completion rate

Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
ACAMS / ICA / CFE / CAMS / CRCM or equivalent
Compliance, Risk, or AML certification is highly desirable.
Experience:
5–7 years’ experience in compliance, risk, audit, or legal role.
Minimum of 2–3 years in fintech, banking, payments, or financial services.
Experience interacting with regulators and handling audits.
Strong knowledge of financial regulations and AML/CFT frameworks
Excellent analytical and investigative skills
High integrity and ethical standards
Strong report writing and documentation skills
Attention to detail and risk awareness
Stakeholder management and communication skills
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
