The Federal University Lokoja (FUL), located in the confluence city of Lokoja, Kogi State, is a fast-growing university, established by an Act of Law in 2011 to expand access to tertiary education in Nigeria. It commenced academic activities in 2012 with two faculties and eleven (11) programmes. The University has continued to make steady progress and record successes in several areas. Currently, the University boasts of a total of sixty (60) programmes in thirteen (13) faculties, including a College of Health Science and a College of Post-Graduate Studies. In addition to the main campus at Felele, the University maintains the College of Health Sciences at the take-off site Adenkolo, both in Lokoja metropolis.

Job Title: Director of Works and Maintenance Service
Location: Lokoja, Kogi
Job Summary
The Director of Works and Maintenance Services is a critical management position and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for day-to-day running of the Directorate.
He is also responsible for the day-to-day physical/infrastructural facilities management and maintenance in the University.
He shall be required to carry out any other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Vice-Chancellor.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee renovation and maintenance of all University buildings and infrastructure.
Manage the Works and Maintenance Services Department, including technical staff and budgets
Supervise the maintenance of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and other engineering installations
Manage the University's foot of vehicles and related transportation infrastructure.
Advise the University Management on all matters relating to works and maintenance
Ensure sustainable and efficient management of utilities (power).
Qualifications and Experiences
A candidate for the position of a Director of Works and Maintenance Services shall have:
A good Honours Degree not below second class lower division in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, and Building Technology from a recognized institution Possession of higher degree in relevant field will be an added advantage.
Be a registered member of a relevant professional body with a current practicing license, (eg, COREN, NIA, NIQS, NSE)
A minimum of fifteen (15) years of post-qualification cognate experience, with at least ten (10) years in a senior management role in works and maintenance, preferably in a Federal University
Shall have served at the level of a Deputy Director of Works, preferably in a Federal University for a minimum period of five (5) years and renewable.
Not be more than sixty (60) years upon as of duty.
Competencies and Skills:
Demonstrate leadership, managerial and administrative skills.
Proven experience and Strong knowledge of contemporary
practices in management and sustainable infrastructure maintenance
High integrity, transparency, and ethical standards
Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation skills and ability to work in a team
Proficiency in relevant computer-aided design (CAD) and project management software
Shall be of good health, sound judgment, and pleasant disposition.
Conditions of Service
The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years as directed by the Federal Ministry of Education.
Salary and other benefits are as applicable to the position of Director in the Federal University System and as may be determined from time to time by the Governing Council.
