The Kano office will play a key role in expanding Hayok Credit’s footprint in Northern Nigeria, supporting loan origination, credit assessment, monitoring, and recovery.

Job Title: Credit Officer

Position Summary
The Credit Officer will be responsible for identifying eligible clients, assessing creditworthiness, supporting loan processing, and ensuring effective monitoring and recovery of loan portfolios.
The role requires strong field engagement, financial analysis skills, and a high level of integrity.
The officer will work closely with sales teams, health insurance partners, MSME clients, and community groups to expand responsible lending while maintaining portfolio quality.
Identify and recruit potential borrowers, including individuals, SMEs, health workers, informal sector groups, and cooperative societies.
Promote Hayok Credit products, especially health insurance financing, MSME loans, and structured credit packages.
Conduct community and market visits to build a strong client pipeline.
Support onboarding and documentation of new clients.
Credit Assessment & Appraisal:
Conduct financial and background assessments of loan applicants.
Review client income streams, repayment capacity, and credit history.
Prepare credit appraisal reports and recommendations.
Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory requirements.
Loan Processing & Disbursement Support:
Support the preparation and verification of loan documentation.
Coordinate with operations and finance teams to ensure timely loan disbursement.
Ensure all KYC requirements and risk checks are completed.
Portfolio Monitoring:
Track loan utilization and repayment performance.
Maintain regular contact with borrowers to monitor business performance.
Provide early warning signals for potential default risks.
Recovery & Collections:
Follow up on overdue accounts and implement recovery strategies.
Engage clients respectfully to negotiate repayment plans where needed.
Support repossession and recovery processes in line with company policy.
Reporting & Data Management:
Maintain accurate records of client interactions, loan performance, and field activities.
Submit periodic reports on the loan pipeline, disbursements, and collections.
Use digital tools and lending platforms to track credit activities.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Ensure adherence to Hayok Credit’s lending policies and procedures.
Support fraud prevention by verifying client information and documentation.
Maintain confidentiality and protect client data.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
2 – 5 years of experience in credit, microfinance, banking, or lending operations.
Experience working in Kano or Northern Nigeria markets is an advantage.
Familiarity with MSME lending, group lending, or health financing models is desirable.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Number and quality of loans originated.
Portfolio at Risk (PAR) levels.
Loan recovery and repayment rates.
Client acquisition and retention.
Compliance with credit processes and documentation standards.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong financial analysis and credit appraisal skills.
Good communication and interpersonal abilities (Hausa language proficiency is an added advantage).
High level of integrity and professionalism.
Strong negotiation and recovery skills.
Ability to work independently and meet targets.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital lending platforms.
