Job Summary
The Head of Academia is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for all academic functions at an Etiquette School.
The role ensures the design, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of all academic programmes while maintaining high standards of teaching excellence, curriculum integrity, and student outcomes.
This position oversees faculty performance, academic quality assurance, programme scheduling, student engagement, and industry alignment.
The Head of Academia plays a critical role in positioning the school as a leading institution in etiquette, social intelligence, professional development, and hospitality education.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Strategy and Programme Leadership:
Develop and execute the academic strategy in alignment with the school’s vision and growth objectives.
Design, implement, and continuously improve academic programmes to ensure relevance, rigour, and industry alignment.
Conduct periodic curriculum reviews to ensure content reflects current best practices in etiquette, hospitality, leadership, and professional conduct.
Establish measurable learning outcomes for all programmes and ensure consistent delivery across cohorts.
Develop academic policies, procedures, and standards that uphold institutional integrity and excellence.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and quality assurance requirements.
Curriculum Development and Quality Assurance:
Lead the development of structured course outlines, lecture materials, assessment tools, and grading rubrics.
Implement robust academic quality control systems, including moderation and review of teaching materials and assessments.
Establish systems to track student performance, attendance, progression, and completion rates.
Identify at-risk students and implement structured intervention strategies.
Analyse student evaluations and feedback data to improve instructional quality and programme delivery.
Benchmark programmes against local and international industry standards to ensure competitiveness.
Faculty Leadership and Staff Management:
Recruit, onboard, and train teaching staff to ensure alignment with the school’s standards and institutional culture.
Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for academic staff.
Allocate teaching schedules and administrative responsibilities equitably.
Conduct structured performance appraisals with measurable KPIs.
Provide mentoring and professional development opportunities to enhance faculty effectiveness.
Enforce adherence to the institution’s code of conduct and professional standards.
Foster a collaborative academic environment that promotes innovation, accountability, and teamwork.
Teaching and Instructional Delivery:
Design and deliver lectures where required, ensuring adherence to academic standards.
Supervise instructional delivery across programmes to maintain consistency and quality.
Ensure assessment processes are fair, transparent, and aligned with defined learning outcomes.
Oversee examination processes, grading accuracy, and academic integrity procedures.
Promote active learning through workshops, simulations, case studies, and experiential training.
Student Engagement and Career Readiness:
Oversee student onboarding in collaboration with the Head of Administration to ensure a seamless academic start.
Develop structured student engagement initiatives that enhance participation and confidence-building.
Lead career-readiness initiatives, including internship placements, industry networking events, and career advisory sessions.
Establish systems for monitoring student progression from enrolment to programme completion.
Support initiatives that strengthen students’ professional presence, communication skills, and social intelligence.
Academic Operations and Administration:
Develop and manage the academic calendar, including class schedules, examination periods, and programme timelines.
