CcHUB is Nigeria’s first open living lab and pre-incubation space being designed to be a multi-functional, multi-purpose space where work to catalyze creative social tech ventures take place. The HUB is a place for technologists, social entrepreneurs, government, tech companies, impact investors and hackers in and around Lagos to co-create new solutions to the many social problems in Nigeria.
The CcHUB Instructional Design Fellowship is a 24-month immersive talent development program designed to build a strong pipeline of Instructional Designers who will support innovative education technology startups across Africa.
Fellows will receive structured hands on training focused on the principles of learning and the design of impactful digital learning experiences. Through real projects and mentorship, fellows will build skills needed to design, review and improve high quality learning experiences.
While gaining exposure to Product management, and quality assurance, fellows will progressively transform from learners to contributors, supporting startups within the Mastercard Foundation Edtech Fellowship.
The fellowship combines:
18 weeks of intensive learning (delivered as three 6-week learning sprints spread across the fellowship duration)
66 weeks of hands-on startup support, where fellows apply their skills in real-world EdTech environments
This fellowship is open to individuals with entry level Instructional design experience, preferably Corps members who studied Education and may have worked on a limited number of EdTech projects, who demonstrate a strong interest in learning, education, technology, and problem solving.
Fellows will:
Participate in structured training sessions and workshops
Work on guided practical assignments and capstone projects
Support EdTech startups under supervision, as well as eLimu by CcHUB
Receive ongoing mentorship, feedback, and performance reviews
Gradually take on more responsibility as skills mature
Fellows will support EdTech startups by contributing across the following functional areas:
Instructional Design & Learning Experience Development:
Fellows will be responsible for supporting the design and development of effective, engaging, and learner-centered educational content and experiences for digital and blended learning environments.
Key Responsibilities include:
Collaborating with facilitators, educators, and EdTech startup teams to design and develop curriculum and instructional materials
Supporting the definition of learning objectives, lesson structures, and learning pathways
Assisting in the creation of learning activities, assignments, and assessments aligned with learning outcomes
Applying basic instructional design and learning science principles to improve learning effectiveness
Designing and reviewing digital learning assets such as videos, quizzes, worksheets, and interactive activities
Supporting the adaptation of existing learning content for online, mobile, or blended learning environments
Product Management Support:
Fellows will be responsible for supporting the planning, development, and improvement of EdTech products by working closely with startup product and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities include:
Supporting user and learner research activities, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing
Assisting in documenting user needs, learning challenges, and product requirements
Participating in sprint planning, product reviews, and cross-functional team meetings
Supporting product iteration by gathering feedback from users and stakeholders after product releases
Quality Assurance & Testing:
Fellows will be responsible for helping to ensure that EdTech products and learning experiences meet expected quality, usability, and functionality standards before and after release.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Testing EdTech platforms, features, and learning content to identify bugs, errors, and usability issues
Reviewing instructional content for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and alignment with learning objectives
Supporting the creation and execution of test cases and basic test plans
Documenting and reporting bugs and issues clearly to product, engineering, and instructional design teams
Contributing to continuous improvement of product and content quality standards
Across all responsibilities, fellows will be expected to:
Work closely with cross-functional teams including founders, product managers, designers, developers, and educators:
Support project coordination, timelines, and documentation across multiple startups
Participate actively in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship activities throughout the fellowship
Stay informed about emerging trends in EdTech, digital learning, and education innovation, particularly within the African context
Apply feedback, research insights, and performance data to continuously improve instructional content and product support work
Qualifications
Individuals with entry level instructional designer experience, preferably Corps members who studied Education and may have worked on a limited number of EdTech projects, who demonstrate a strong interest in learning, education, technology, and problem solving.
