Job Title: Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Integration Officer

Location: Pulka, Borno
Job type: Full-time

About the Job

  • The Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Integration Officer will play a critical role in enhancing the health and well-being of adolescents in Nigeria by integrating ASRH into various humanitarian responses.
  • This position involves identifying programmatic gaps, mapping local civil society organizations, and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
  • A key focus will be on empowering Adolescents through capacity-building initiatives, ensuring their active participation in ASRH advocacy and interventions.
  • By developing tailored training programs, organizing stakeholder convenings, and implementing innovative mentoring mechanisms, the Project Officer will contribute to creating a supportive environment for adolescent health and drive meaningful change in communities. 

Main Responsibilities
The Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Integration Officer will be responsible for the following, including those not listed but are extensions of those expressly stated:

Identify Programmatic Gaps:

  • Conduct assessments to identify gaps in ASRH integration within Nigeria’s humanitarian framework.
  • Engage with local SRH working groups to gather and analyze data on current challenges.

Mapping and Engagement:

  • Map and identify Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and youth-led organizations (YLOs) focusing on adolescent health in target communities.
  • Facilitate their involvement in gap analysis and contribute to training design.

Capacity Building for Adolescents:

  • Develop and implement training programs aimed at building capacity among adolescents to promote their active participation in ASRH initiatives.
  • Equip adolescents with skills in project management, decision-making, and public engagement.

Convene Multi-Sector Stakeholders:

  • Organize meetings with stakeholders from health, education, WASH, and other sectors to address ASRH needs.
  • Conduct focus groups and key informant interviews to gather insights on integration opportunities.

Develop ASRH Training Programs:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design context-specific ASRH training content for healthcare providers and youth organizations.
  • Ensure training methodologies are innovative and engage youth effectively.

Conduct Pilot Training Modules:

  • Organize and facilitate pilot training sessions for practitioners across various sectors.
  • Collect feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of training and identify areas for improvement.

Ongoing Adaptation and Feedback:

  • Adapt training materials and guidelines based on participant feedback and emerging ASRH needs.
  • Engage adolescents in continuous feedback processes to refine training approaches.

Establish Mentoring Mechanisms:

  • Design and implement a mentoring program to support local actors in ASRH integration.
  • Develop tools and checklists for assessing ASRH service quality in targeted sectors.

Knowledge Sharing and Dissemination:

  • Create a knowledge-sharing strategy to promote best practices and lessons learned in ASRH integration.
  • Conduct webinars and workshops to share training materials and integration guidelines with a broad audience.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, particularly in health or humanitarian sectors, with a focus on adolescent health.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement Skills. 
  • Experience in capacity building and training  program development.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including adolescents.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis methods.
