Background
In our vision to be the Yiaga Africa of the future, we seek an exceptional candidate to support our Media and Communications Department as a Videography Officer.
The Videographer, under the supervision of the Senior Communication Officer, will be responsible for capturing, producing, and editing high-quality video content that promotes public understanding and engagement with Yiaga Africa’s work. The role will support visual storytelling by documenting programs, events, and field activities; creating compelling multimedia content; and helping bring Yiaga Africa’s impact closer to the communities it serves and its wider audience.

The position is for six (6) months initially, subject to renewal based on performance and funding availability. The post holder will be expected to work 40 hours per week.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support the development and implementation of digital communication campaigns by producing engaging video content for social media platforms and online audiences around Yiaga Africa’s priority issues, programs, and major events.
Optimise video formats for platform-specific performance (Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok
Plan, film, and edit high-quality video content for advocacy, public awareness, documentation, and storytelling purposes.
Where necessary, lead live-stream production for organisational events, ensuring professional broadcast quality and seamless digital delivery.
Lead the production of recurring video series, thematic campaigns, and editorial video calendars to ensure consistent digital visibility.
Provide technical and creative support in the production and delivery of multimedia communication products, especially video-based materials for digital platforms.
Research and gather relevant visual and background information to inform video concepts, scripts, and storyboards.
Develop creative video content that promotes active engagement across online communities and social platforms.
Repurpose live and long-form content into optimised short-form assets for sustained digital engagement.
Assist in organising and implementing multimedia campaigns and events by capturing footage and producing timely visual outputs in coordination with partners and stakeholders.
Collect and produce multimedia content in diverse formats—including short videos, documentaries, reels, interviews, and event highlights—for social media and digital distribution.
Support the adaptation of video content for different audiences, formats, and languages, including subtitles, captions, and platform-specific edits.
Contribute to public information and outreach efforts by producing visual materials for presentations, exhibitions, and digital showcases.
Translate research reports, policy briefs, and programme outcomes into accessible, audience-friendly video narratives.
Identify timely political, civic, and social moments to develop rapid-response video content that positions Yiaga Africa as a thought leader.
Maintain organised archives of video footage, multimedia assets, and production files.
Support coverage of interviews, press briefings, and organisational events through professional video recording and editing.
Anticipate communication opportunities within programme activities rather than responding only to event-based requests.
Produce special features such as mini-documentaries, impact stories, and case-study videos for Yiaga Africa’s projects.
Monitor multimedia trends, tools, and innovations to enhance content quality and audience reach.
Provide periodic reports on video performance metrics and audience engagement insights.
Perform other media production and technical duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience
A Degree in Film Production, Multimedia, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field.
An advanced degree in a relevant discipline is an added advantage.
Minimum of five (5) years’ professional experience in videography, multimedia production, or digital content creation, preferably within an international NGO or development-focused environment.
Proven experience working as part of an effective communications or media team, with strong skills in visual storytelling, impact documentation, and development-focused media production.
Demonstrated proficiency in operating professional video equipment, cameras, lighting systems, and audio recording tools.
Strong command of English (spoken and written).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with digital media production tools and platforms.
Experience producing and adapting multimedia content for digital publishing platforms, including social media, websites, and online campaigns.
Hands-on experience in video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Capcut, DaVinci Resolve, or similar software is required.
Knowledge of digital photography and photo editing is an advantage.
Experience in graphic design or desktop publishing using tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign is desirable.
Strong understanding of communication, branding, and visual content best practices.
Advanced knowledge of social media platforms, video optimisation, and audience engagement strategies.
Ability to manage multiple production tasks simultaneously and deliver high-quality outputs under tight deadlines.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in French and/or any other language will be a plus.
