Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated HSE Officer to promote a safe and healthy work environment for our employees and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health, safety, and environmental management, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to ensuring compliance with HSE regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of workplace facilities, equipment, and processes to identify hazards, risks, and non-compliance issues.
Analyze HSE data and trends, and develop recommendations and action plans to address areas of concern and improve HSE performance.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, and prepare reports documenting root causes, contributing factors, and corrective actions taken.
Monitor and enforce compliance with HSE regulations, standards, and procedures, and communicate requirements and expectations to employees and contractors.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement risk assessment and management strategies for new projects, processes, and activities.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on HSE matters to management, employees, and stakeholders, and serve as a resource for HSE-related inquiries and concerns.
Participate in emergency response planning and drills, and coordinate emergency preparedness and response activities as needed.
Maintain records and documentation of HSE activities, inspections, training, incidents, and corrective actions, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality.
Support the development and implementation of environmental management programs, including waste management, pollution prevention, and conservation initiatives.
Review and analyze HSE-related regulations, standards, and best practices, and make recommendations for updates and improvements to HSE policies and procedures.
Conduct risk assessments and safety audits of subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure compliance with HSE requirements and expectations.
Promote a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement throughout the organization, fostering awareness, engagement, and accountability among employees and stakeholders.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.
3 years of proven experience in health, safety, and environmental management, with a focus on industrial, construction, or manufacturing environments.
Strong understanding of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices, including OSHA, EPA, and ISO requirements.
Excellent knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk management principles and methodologies.
Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and managing HSE programs, policies, and procedures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights and recommendations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to interact professionally and effectively with employees, contractors, regulators, and stakeholders.
Proficiency in conducting HSE inspections, audits, and investigations, and preparing detailed reports and documentation.
Ability to lead and facilitate HSE training sessions, workshops, and meetings for diverse audiences.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
