Job Summary

  • The Head, Media Relations is a strategic leadership position responsible for elevating the company’s Group’s brand visibility, reputation, and influence across key stakeholder ecosystems.
  • This role serves as the architect of the company’s external narrative, positioning the company as Africa’s leading industrial transformation company and pioneer in additive manufacturing technology.
  • The Head, Media Relations will build and nurture strategic relationships with media houses, investors, government agencies, industry associations, and other critical stakeholders to amplify the Company’s story of driving industrial sovereignty through advanced manufacturing technologies working closely with other internal stake holders.
  • This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the company’s strategic objectives by creating thought leadership platforms, securing high-value media coverage, and establishing influential networks that contribute to policy influence, investor engagement, revenue generation, and brand equity enhancement.

 Key Responsibilities
Strategic Media Relations & Brand Visibility:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive media relations strategies aligned with the company’s vision, mission, and strategic growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with tier-one media outlets, industry publications, business journalists, and editorial boards across Nigeria, West Africa, and international markets.
  • Create compelling press releases, media kits, thought leadership articles, and content that articulate the company’s industrial revolution narrative.
  • Secure high-impact media coverage in business, technology, energy, manufacturing, and defense publications to maintain consistent brand presence.
  • Monitor media landscape, track coverage, and measure brand sentiment to continuously optimize messaging and positioning.

Stakeholder Network Development & Management:

  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers across targeted stakeholder groups including investors, government officials, industry association leaders, and corporate executives.
  • Develop strategic engagement plans for priority stakeholder segments, ensuring regular touchpoints and relationship deepening.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive stakeholder database with detailed profiles, engagement history, and relationship mapping.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to leverage stakeholder relationships for business development, partnership opportunities, and strategic initiatives.

Thought Leadership & Spokesperson Support:

  • Position the Head, Strategic Communications and Business Intelligence as a prominent industry thought leader through strategic media placements, speaking engagements, and expert commentary opportunities.
  • Identify and secure high-visibility speaking opportunities at industry conferences, investment forums, government roundtables, and international platforms.
  • Develop briefing materials, talking points, and background documents to support spokesperson effectiveness in media interactions and public engagements
  • Coordinate media training and presentation coaching to enhance spokesperson capabilities and message delivery.

Government & Policy Engagement:

  • Build strategic relationships with relevant government agencies, ministries (e.g Industry, Trade, Science & Technology, Maritime, Defence etc.), and regulatory bodies
  • Position The company as a credible voice in policy discussions on industrialization, local content development, technology adoption, and manufacturing sector growth
  • Identify opportunities for the company to contribute to policy development through white papers, industry submissions, and advisory participation.
  • Monitor policy developments and regulatory changes that impact the company’s business sectors, providing strategic counsel on engagement approaches.

Investor Relations Support & Capital Markets Visibility:

  • Develop relationships with financial media, investment analysts, and capital markets stakeholders to enhance the company’s visibility among potential investors.
  • Support investor relations activities by ensuring consistent messaging and coordinating media coverage around funding rounds, partnership announcements, and major milestones.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to showcase the company at investor forums, roadshows, and investment-focused events.
  • Work with Strategic Communications to develop investor-focused content that articulates the company’s growth story, competitive advantages, and market opportunity. 

Industry Engagement & Association Management:

  • Establish and maintain active engagement with relevant industry associations including Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), and sector-specific bodies.
  • Identify leadership and committee participation opportunities that position the company at the centre of industry discussions and decision-making.
  • Coordinate The company’s participation in industry exhibitions, trade shows, and sector conferences to maximize brand visibility and networking opportunities.
  • Leverage industry platforms to share the company’s innovations, thought leadership, and case studies with peer organizations and potential clients.

Events & Strategic Engagements:

  • Develop an annual calendar of strategic events, conferences, and engagements that align with the company’s business development and visibility objectives
  • Coordinate The company’s participation in major industry events as exhibitors, sponsor or speakers, ensuring maximum ROI from each engagement
  • Build relationships with event organizers and planners to secure advantageous positioning, speaking slots, and visibility opportunities
  • Plan and execute the company-hosted events such as media briefings, industry roundtables, facility tours, and stakeholder forums

Content Development & Narrative Management:

  • Develop compelling narratives and story angles that position the company’s work within broader themes of African industrialization, technological sovereignty, and economic transformation
  • Create and maintain a content library of case studies, success stories, leadership profiles, and technical achievements for distribution to media and stakeholders
  • Work with technical teams to translate complex engineering and manufacturing concepts into accessible narratives for non-technical audiences
  • Ensure message consistency across all external communications, aligning with brand guidelines and strategic positioning. 

Crisis Communications & Reputation Management:

  • Develop and maintain crisis communication protocols and rapid response capabilities to protect and preserve the company’s reputation
  • Monitor media coverage and social sentiment to identify and address potential reputational risks proactively
  • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, and Leadership teams on sensitive communications requiring careful stakeholder management
  • Maintain positive relationships with key media contacts to ensure balanced coverage during challenging situations.

Team Leadership & Budget Management:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing media relations team, providing clear direction, mentorship, and professional development opportunities
  • Manage external agency relationships and vendor partnerships to supplement internal capabilities as needed
  • Develop and manage annual media relations budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources across priorities
  • Establish KPIs and measurement frameworks to track media relations effectiveness and demonstrate ROI

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field from a recognized institution
  • Master’s Degree in Strategic Communications, Media Relations, or Business Administration is highly preferred

Experience & Expertise:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Demonstrated track record of building and managing high-level stakeholder relationships across government, media, and corporate sectors
  • Proven experience in developing and executing strategic communications campaigns that drive measurable business outcomes
  • Experience working in or with industrial, manufacturing, technology, or engineering sectors strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting investor relations or capital-raising activities is advantageous

Preferred Qualification:

  • Professional certifications in Public Relations (e.g., APR from PRSA, CMP, or equivalent)
  • Previous journalism experience or deep understanding of news production and editorial decision-making
  • Established network of media contacts across Nigerian and West African markets
  • Experience in B2B communications, particularly in industrial or technology sectors
  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing, advanced manufacturing technologies, or industrial transformation trends
  • Experience working with international organizations or Commonwealth networks
  • Digital media and content marketing expertise
  • Track record of thought leadership platform development for C-suite executives
