Background
As part of its digital transformation and operational efficiency goals, Yiaga Africa is seeking an exceptional IT Assistant to support its IT infrastructure and lead initiatives that improve internal systems and data security. The role will support the organization's strategic objectives by ensuring the smooth operation of all IT-related services and platforms.

This is a full-time role for six(6) months initially, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding. The role involves 40 hours of work per week and offers a competitive salary.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the design, update, and maintenance of Yiaga Africa’s websites, ensuring functionality and usability.
Support installation, configuration, and routine maintenance of computer hardware, software, networks, and operating systems.
Provide first-level technical support through the IT helpdesk, troubleshooting issues, and escalating complex cases when necessary.
Support the implementation of data security measures, including system backups and access controls.
Assist in enforcing IT policies, standards, and procedures across the organization.
Monitor and maintain computer systems, printers, and other ICT equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records of IT assets and equipment.
Support compliance with data protection and cybersecurity guidelines through routine checks and updates.
Assist staff in using digital collaboration tools such as Microsoft 365, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
Help manage internal file-sharing platforms and cloud storage systems.
Provide basic IT orientation and user support to staff as needed.
Support automation and digitalization initiatives under supervision.
Liaise with vendors and service providers for equipment servicing, repairs, or installations.
Assist in maintaining internal platforms, databases, and information systems.
Required Skills and Experience
Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in IT support, systems administration, or technical development roles, preferably within an NGO or similar environment.
Strong programming knowledge in one or more languages such as Python, JavaScript, PHP, Java, or C#, with the ability to develop, modify, and troubleshoot scripts, applications, or automation tools.
Demonstrated ability to support and maintain both Windows and Mac OS environments.
Proficiency in managing local and cloud-based servers, networks, and system infrastructure.
Working knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure coding practices, and data protection standards.
Experience administering collaboration and productivity platforms such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and virtual communication tools.
Familiarity with databases, APIs, CMS platforms, and enterprise applications, including basic database querying or scripting.
Hands-on experience in hardware troubleshooting, repairs, and IT asset lifecycle management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills with a strong user-support orientation.
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, or programming certifications) will be an added advantage.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in written and spoken English. Proficiency in French and/or another Nigerian language is an advantage.
