We are looking for a dynamic and entrepreneurial senior Investment Advisor to join our Wealth Management division.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the investment philosophy, service offering, and market positioning of a young multi-family office with global ambitions.
This is both a strategic and hands-on role, suited for an investment leader who can operate in a lean environment and is excited about building a firm from the ground up.
The role is fast-paced and demanding. Cultural fit is key to the role, and it is vital that the candidate shares and upholds our values and beliefs. An existing knowledge of asset management, wealth management banking, structured finance and basic accounting is critical.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
Investment Strategy & Advisory.
Leading investment strategy and portfolio construction.
Develop and oversee the firm’s investment philosophy, asset allocation, and portfolio construction frameworks.
Oversee all investment strategies, ensuring an optimal portfolio of offerings, periodic product diligence, and continuous performance tracking
Advise clients on investment opportunities across asset classes (public markets, private equity, alternatives, real assets, fixed income, and cash management).
Monitor global markets, identify opportunities, and make timely recommendations aligned with client objectives.
Build and oversee robust risk management processes.
Build and develop the firm’s investment platform, securing relationships with external platform providers and working with the Client Advisors.
Provide all reporting on client portfolios, consolidating their investments into a single simple to understand report.
Prepare and provide all research reports on behalf of the firm, including the daily newsletter and periodic research reports.
Provide required support to the firm’s existing products and strategies, and identify new organisations and strategies to acquire as value adds.
Relationship & Business Development
Building relationships with global service providers and investment managers.
Build and nurture partnerships with global and local investment managers, banks, custodians, and other service providers.
Acting as a trusted advisor to clients.
Represent the Firm in client and prospect meetings, articulating the firm’s value proposition.
Support new client acquisition by leveraging personal networks, credibility, and industry visibility.
Collaborate with Client Advisors to define a clear value proposition.
Communicate our value proposition to internal and external stakeholders, existing clients, and new prospects.
Playing a critical role in business development and winning new client relationships.
Grow the firm’s Assets Under Management (AUM) through the provision of an exceptional client experience.
Collaborate with the Investment Bank, Business Development, Marketing, Operations, Technology, and Compliance to ensure successful delivery of the firm’s full proposition to clients.
Play a leading role in expanding the firm’s reach across London, Lagos, Chicago, Abuja, and Dubai.
Firm Leadership & Growth
Work to refine the firm’s service offering and deliver operational excellence.
Establish investment governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.• Raising the profile of the firm through thought leadership and networking.
Contribute to building the Firm’s brand and reputation in global markets.
Mentor and develop junior talent as the firm grows.
Market the Obsidian Wealth Management proposition through external media positioning and speaking opportunities.
Required Qualifications and Skills
BSc Degree in Finance, Economics, or related field.
MBA, CFA, CIMA, or CFP designation or equivalent qualification is strongly preferred.
Minimum 10+ years’ experience in investment management, ideally within a family office, private bank, fund company, asset manager, or institutional allocator.
Excellent ability to speak and write English language.
Proficient in MacOS Keynote, Numbers and Pages.
Proficient in MS Powerpoint, Excel & Word.
Proven ability to design and manage multi-jurisdictional, multi-asset class portfolios
Diligent, with excellent attention to detail.
Solid numeric ability.
Proficient in creating and delivering client presentations.
Strong investment research and analysis skills.
Thorough knowledge of financial industry and financial products.
Highly proficient in the preparation of investment research reports
Strong global network of investment. managers, banks, and service providers
Track record of advising UHNW clients and supporting business development.
Excellent communication and presentation skills. Able to synthesise and present complex information simply.
Extensive experience working with investment teams, asset managers, platform managers, investment strategists and consultants.
Trusted advisor with strong presence.
Experience building or scaling an investment platform, while making decisions around a number of strategies, platform positioning for advisors / clients, and pricing.
Experience supporting Client Advisors to build and grow “books of business”
Experience overseeing first-time and ongoing due diligence for new and existing investment strategies.
Communication experience across large and small groups via all mediums, including live presentations and televised interviews.
Strong organisational skills to manage on demand requests, projects and daily duties
Result oriented, able to deliver on time, under pressure.
