Located in Lagos State, Nigeria, Obsidian Capital aims to transform the infrastructure landscape of middle Africa, particularly in renewable and sustainable power infrastructure.
We are looking for a highly driven, commercially astute and entrepreneurial senior professional to join our Corporate Advisory Group within the Investment Bank as an Associate Partner, Origination & Deal Structuring.
This is a senior revenue-generating role responsible for originating new corporate advisory mandates, structuring complex transactions, attracting new funding partners and institutional capital providers, and driving growth across both the firm’s Corporate Advisory and Proprietary Investment divisions.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding the firm’s client base, securing new funding relationships, and converting opportunities into executed transactions.
This role requires strong structuring capability, institutional credibility, and the ability to operate at senior levels across governments, corporates, family offices and global financial institutions.
The role is fast-paced, demanding and performance-driven. Cultural fit is critical, and it is vital that the candidate shares and upholds our values and beliefs. An existing knowledge of corporate finance, structured finance, capital markets, credit, an accounting is essential.
Key Responsibilities of this Role include but are not limited to
Business Development & Origination:
Originate new corporate advisory mandates across sovereign, quasi-sovereign and corporate clients.
Identify and develop new transaction opportunities aligned with the firm’s strategic focus.
Build and maintain senior-level relationships with corporates, governments, sponsors and institutional investors.
Attract new funding partners including private credit funds, institutional asset managers, DFIs and alternative capital providers.
Secure funding lines and capital commitments to support both advisory mandates and proprietary investment opportunities.
Drive revenue growth through successful mandate conversion and transaction execution.
Deal Structuring & Execution:
Lead the structuring of complex financing solutions across debt, hybrid and structured instruments.
Design bankable, risk-mitigated structures aligned with investor appetite and client objectives.
Oversee preparation of financial models, term sheets, information memoranda and credit materials.
Coordinate due diligence processes with legal, financial and technical advisors.
Negotiate commercial and financial terms with counterparties and funding partners.
Work closely with internal Investment Banking, Legal, Compliance and Operations teams to ensure smooth transaction execution.
Support proprietary investment opportunities by structuring capital solutions and securing aligned funding.
Funding & Institutional Relationship Development
Develop and deepen long-term relationships with institutional funding partners globally.
Maintain active dialogue with credit funds, asset managers, banks and DFIs regarding pipeline opportunities.
Position the firm as a credible origination and structuring partner within institutional markets.
Structure repeatable funding platforms and programme-based capital solutions.
Firm Leadership & Growth:
Partner with senior leadership to refine the Corporate Advisory Group’s strategic positioning.
Contribute to pipeline planning, revenue forecasting and growth strategy.
Mentor junior team members and support capability development.
Raise the firm’s profile through thought leadership, networking and market engagement.
Support geographic expansion across London, Lagos, Chicago, Abuja and Dubai.
Required Qualifications and Skills
BSc Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business or related field.
MBA, CFA or equivalent designation strongly preferred.
Minimum 10+ years’ experience in investment banking, corporate finance, structured finance, private credit, private equity or institutional asset management.
Excellent ability to speak and write English language.
Proficient in MacOS Keynote, Numbers and Pages.
Proficient in MS PowerPoint, Excel & Word.
Demonstrated track record of originating and executing complex financial transactions.
Strong existing network of corporates, governments, development finance institutions, private credit funds, institutional investors and funding partners.
Proven ability to attract and secure institutional funding relationships.
Deep understanding of debt structuring, credit analysis, capital markets and risk allocation.
Strong financial modelling and analytical capability.
Experience structuring multi-jurisdictional transactions across emerging and developed markets.
Strong negotiation and commercial acumen.
Highly proficient in preparing investment memoranda, credit papers, term sheets, pitch books and transaction documentation.
Excellent presentation skills, able to synthesise complex transaction structures clearly and persuasively.

Strong organisational skills to manage multiple live mandates simultaneously.
