The Programs Officer is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of organizational programs and projects.
The role ensures that activities are delivered effectively, within budget, and in alignment with organizational goals and stakeholders' requirements.
The Programs Officer works closely with internal teams, partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries to ensure successful program outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement program activities in line with the organisation's objectives to ensure the timely delivery of outputs and work with cross-functional teams to achieve program success.
Track project progress and ensure activities align with set goals. Collect and analyze data for reporting and decision-making. Prepare regular reports for management, donors, and stakeholders.
Oversee all programs and training initiatives, which include human capacity development, management, business, digital skills, skills development, and employability training, utilizing up-to-date course curricula. Source relevant stakeholders, such as clients and facilitators, and oversee the coordination of training and promotional activities.
Identify, develop, coordinate (including project management, monitoring, and budgeting), and deliver tailored interventions to improve the digital technology, digital skills, and entrepreneurship sector, responding to the needs and opportunities for inclusion in the local tech and entrepreneurship sector, for example, promoting opportunities for youth and women in the local tech sector.
Build and maintain relationships with existing partners/participants, potential participants, and relevant organizations to increase continued patronage, program visibility, and participation.
Business Development by identifying opportunities, concept note development, grant submission, writing of bids/proposals, and speaking credibly to clients/partners/donors.
Facilitate partnerships between government, private organizations, INGOs, civil societies, SMEs, DFIs, academia, ecosystem stakeholders and local tech firms (including tech start-ups), and international companies (across all sectors) in the form of commercial partnerships or joint ventures.
Marketing and communication of our programs and training services by delivering strategic and tactical direction of our online and offline marketing efforts to drive growth targets through strategic partnerships, data-driven marketing, demand generation campaigns, and service positioning.
Research for products and service improvements; prepare business intelligence reports, and present innovative solutions to develop new business lines.
Contributing to the organisation’s future sustainability by actively seeking new opportunities for the execution of the organisation’s mission and developing revenue streams that will help the organisation to become financially sustainable in the long term.
Monitor and evaluate/Impact - ensure that programs/training’s portfolio report targets and produces compelling programs and training impact stories.
Assist in budget planning and ensure proper financial tracking of program activities. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of program activities, including financial records.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in program or project coordination.
Work Experience in a digital skills training or ICT organisation, managing programs/training
Strong understanding of digital Skills and ICT training.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good analytical and reporting skills.
Proficiency in Gantt Chart, Agile Program Management Tools, Collaboration tools, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Asana, Microsoft Teams, etc
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
