Job Summary

• The Tax Manager supports the Senior Tax Manager in managing the firm’s tax practices and ensuring the delivery of quality tax advisory, compliance, and consulting services.
• The role holder is responsible for overseeing assigned client portfolios, managing tax engagements, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to business development initiatives that promote the growth and sustainability of Tax Practice.

Job Description

• Contribute to the financial performance of the Tax Practice through effective management of engagements, cost control, and billing efficiency.
• Support the Senior Tax Manager in achieving revenue and profitability targets.
• Participate in fee negotiation processes and ensure timely billing and collection of client fees.
• Identify opportunities for expanding services with existing clients and developing new client relationships.
• Serve as a key contact for assigned clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
• Deliver accurate and timely tax compliance, advisory, and planning services in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Provide technical input on corporate tax, transfer pricing, and VAT issues.
• Work collaboratively with other service lines (Audit, Advisory) to provide integrated client solutions.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws, regulations, and FIRS guidelines.
• Review and oversee preparation and filing of corporate tax returns, ensuring quality and accuracy.
• Implement engagement quality controls and contribute to the firm’s risk management framework.
• Keep abreast of emerging tax legislation and ensure knowledge transfer within the team.
• Supervise work of associates, providing guidance, review, and technical mentoring.
• Support the Senior Tax Manager in preparing technical opinions, client proposals, and presentations.
• Liaise with the Secretariat unit for proper documentation and archiving of tax files.

RequiredMinimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Law, or related field.
• 6–9 years of post-qualification experience in tax advisory and compliance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a professional services firm.
• Membership of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
• Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or equivalent professional body.

Other Requirements:

• Sound knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and FIRS regulations.
• Proficiency in corporate tax, VAT, and transfer pricing compliance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated client relationship management ability.
• Good understanding of business development processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant tax software applications.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
